Wow, man, this really takes the cake. I hesitate to show this to Jackie. I am going to send it to acquittances who give me a hard time for killing the ones in my house. I don't care how rare it is...

Can you use one of those bug zappers that looks like a tennis racket? I am sure the current wouldn't kill one but it would stun them while you dealt with it.
Umm, I don't know. I think they are dead when they hit the floor after I whack them. I don't find out. I whack them again while they are on the floor, pick them up with really thick gloves and then stick a knife through them outside on the ground. Those ones don't come back. I'm sorry, I'd rather not do it. I don't like it and am in no condition to be messing around like that. That's why we hire pest control.

I sure wish someone would snap up that GMZ with the beveled cap. I've only got one of those, and I'm sorry but I much prefer them to the P3 caps. The P3 ones are much more finicky for me, and if I could turn back the clock, I'd never have sent the ones that I did in for the "upgrade".

Lessons learned.

Hmmm... Wonderin' if you also like the stealth version DP? You ever get one of those?

For some time I thought of the 2.5 TI with the P3 cap as the ultimate. Ends up a 2.5 GMZ with a beveled cap is the ultimate ProVari for me.
I'd add the gold to that list as well, But that's just me. I know a lot of folks weren't too keen on the goldies...I love 'em!

I did, E. In fact, we ordered two back when they bottomed out. One was the older version, with the TINY screen, and one was the newer. Both were beveled caps. Dave (PV) told me that the tiny screens were actually leftovers from back when they bought out the original company that made them (brain-fart with their name here).

I kept that one (red LED), and Kat got the larger (and blue) LED.

I've put a couple of dings in it, as I expected I would, and am FINE with that.

For me, it's a toss up between the GMZ (beveled) and the Ti (P3 cape only, unfortunately) for "Ultimate Provari".

Obviously this is my personal opinion, and is meaningless relating to anyone who may feel differently (as it should be). But give me that old, beveled cap every day of the week, month & year. They just work. All the time, every time.

For some time I thought of the 2.5 TI with the P3 cap as the ultimate. Ends up a 2.5 GMZ with a beveled cap is the ultimate ProVari for me.

Or that, put much more simply and effectively. Nicely done, 440! :thumb:

Kat will be shaking her head at my verbosity later, as is totally appropriate.

I had always wished from the get go that my Ti's had slant tops on them, when the Kabuki came out my Ti 2.5 and my first P3 would not make contact with the coil due to both having overly deep set center pins...Davids response was to " try to take some pliers and gently pull the pin up a bit". Then he said I probably used a too long pinned attie on them :confused:o_O I then explained my method of ALWYAS using shims to take up the gap so I wouldn't mash the center pins...a practice I developed back when I was using a LavaTube and an MVP3...' that is when he prompted Zen to come into the Kabuki thread and try to address the issue which I had been outspoken about on the forum. Zen, at that point, redesigned the way he cut the threads on the Kabuki from then on to set the coil a little deeper into the base. I didn't like the "new and improved" top cap set up from my very first impression of them.
