One thing for sure, those albums catapulted them into super stardom. They likely would never have seen that had they kept to their first two records. Not enuf metalheads in those days.

Times, there were a'changin'.... ;)

I'll say this much. I saw them early (II) and up through The Game. Probably six times in all. They never stopped absolutely ROCKING a stage. Even the silly stuff came off as hard rockers during a show.

Artsts who sold their souls for stardom:
REO Speedwagon
Journey

I don't think I bought anything from either. They weren't high on my list either, but music hits different ears in different ways, so I always just changed the station.

Live & Let... :headbang:

I was never big fans of either but their early stuff wasn’t bad. But Kevin Cronin and Steve Perry went opera and that was the end of them. Styx the same way.

Styx was one that I found quite repetitive (they followed the exact same formula for most songs), but thoroughly enjoyed live. They put on a good show.

Not GREAT, but very good.

Not much a fan of their studio work though. Whatchagonnado.

Foghat, Chicago, Steve Miller too. I seemed to enjoy the first two albums of many bands before they went mainstream. By the time most were doing stadium shows I'd lost interest.
Early Fleetwood Mac falls into that a bit, but they were more on a musical journey than mainstream for a long time, I liked all the lineups before Nicks and Buckingham showed up.

I can still remember the first time I heard this band, driving my Dad's car to a high school football game. Blown away on AM radio.

They never came close after that.

Got my preventative CT scan this morning. Results are in. I'm benign. No lung cancer. A touch of emphysema and fatty liver but nothing serious or unusual. So good results.

Again, as ex smokers these low dose CT scans can be useful. They're done annually and will catch lung cancer in the early stages. Another useful thing about getting this scan now is I establish a baseline that can be used to compare with future scans. They can measure progressions to determine if there is anything to be concerned about. My insurance paid for all of it. Falls under "Preventative" benefits. Might want to check your insurance. Otherwise I think it's better part of $2K. Maybe less if I didn't have the mandatory consultation for the first visit. IMO, well worth doing. I'll post this on some other threads for people interested.

You had to open THAT door...

If any of you are familiar with South Park's Cartman and his "affliction" related to the Styx song, Come Sail Away; well - this is MY version of THAT.

Always has been, probably always will be, and I've NEVER understood why. LONG before Cartman, it was.

And yet, I still love the song. Go freakin' figure.
