Nice video D, I hope you guys get something solid from this. Two things I tried did not work well, using solder to close the bottom of the tube, it just melts again if too close to the coil. The other was to have the ground pass through the mesh to the base of the atty (mesh hole).

What did work nice was to use 25G syringe needles in place of NR wire and crimps. On 30G kanthal it is a snug fit and you have an inch + of 304SS tubing that can be crimped and bent easily which makes for a very compact build.

Best of luck!

Eureka! I positively have this atty perfected.

1.4 ohm 32ga Nichrome coil.
3x3cm 500 mesh wick=3 layers over 1.8

Perfect hit after perfect hit at only 3.1v! Immediate response with almost no lag time. Clouds with great flavor.

Key differences is having finally figured out a proper way to keep the wick tight against the glass, and keeping coil short enough so that it doesn't extend into the wick hole where there is to much juice.

Heck ya big screen... WTG... Seriously you have put some fine tuning into it..

I will try some more myself.. I received some mesh from az... He's a great guy. And I am going to get it done also.. Lol

Need some tips though..I need to see a pic and any tips.. I only have 32 kanthal

Looking forward to your response... I have scored a Penelope and received it yesterday so I have something to vape on while I try to build coil..

This Penelope by GG just keeps on hitting... Lol

No problem k3. At work on my phone now, but I will try to give a more detailed step by step ASAP. Your 32 g is fine. Looking at your pics, I am pretty sure your tube is to large. Check out the specs for the tubes I linked at Amazon in the first post.

Well worth doing. The vape from this is exceptional.

Ok,got it done..TB had sent me some fused quartz also..I believe it is FQ it is micro small and I put the torch to it and could not close it.wound my 32ga. kanthal around a 19ga. wire and jb weld is setting up now and I will try it tomorrow..

One thing I learned is this, and It was causing me issues, and I am saying this for anyone else..

The size of coils also of course has to do with how many coils at what ohms..In another words,to get a 2.4ohm coil with my 32ga. kanthal wrapped around say size 30 wick is about 5 wraps...

To get that same ohm/resistance wrapping the same kanthal around a 19ga. wire or needle you would have to wrap 10 times..I dont know why I could not wrap my head around that..and by making the coils smaller you can cover more area inside the pyrex or whatever else tube..(clear as mud)???

Yea D I used the fq man I didn't think I could make a coil small enough, but alas I did.. And I got some real nr silver wire I test fired it earlier and wow.. I think it works much better than the Pyrex.. But I still don't know what I should do to seal the top end..

I used a round toothpick and it seems to work fine.

For those with the FQ tubes that TBinAZ so graciously sent out. To give some perspective to size difference between the melting point capillary tubes that I'm using compared to the FQ tubes, I snapped a couple of comparison pics.

He also sent me some 2mm x 1mm FQ and that is what I am using now. It is a tight fit, but the coil definitely is right up against the glass wall. Need to work on getting the ss mesh tighter, though. I wish I could get a good picture of the coil; it is so tiny, my camera can't get a good focus - I had to wind it on the smallest sewing needle I could find. 34ga Kanthal at about 9 coils; 2.0Ω at this time. To get it to fit, I then had to stretch the coils out and kind of screw them into the tube. Even the crimps wouldn't fit; I had to twist the NR onto the Kanthal.

Cool beans y'all. If the thicker walled FQ works well, that would be great.

Biggest drawback to the Pyrex is it's fragility, and propensity to warp if overheated. What is nice is the Pyrex comes in packs of 100 which can make up to 300 wicks for $10. Considering I broke, warped, and took apart a dozen or so before settling in on a method, that's a plus!

I need to go back into the "lab":) and look at the pieces of FQ I have to see if I have any of the smaller tubes. Didn't know I had received any until doing the month end bills yesterday.
