Question for former smokers who quit with the help of e-cigarettes:

I started with a cigalike and found it to be way too problematic.
Then I started dripping, which eliminated all of my wicking issues and constant fiddling.

I've been dripping with a standard joyetech 510 atomizer ever since.
Over five years now, and I'm perfectly happy with where I'm at.

I bought an ego kit but remained smoking and then dropped the ego. However about 6-8 months later i picked the ego up and never looked back. Have moved on now to a vtr and loving it

#1 for me
I started with a mall kiosk Smoke51 cigalike kit. I had heard a rattle in my chest and had to put up with the cigallike until I could afford an ego-c kit. The cartriges were so expensive back then at $14 for a five pack that DID NOT last as long as they claimed. Maybe four days?
Used the ego-c for over a year and a half. Then got a Kanger Protank. I love to vape.
I make my own juice and have a rebuildable tank now. I have saved so much money, by doing that.

Quit with Joyetech E cab (just a bit bigger than a cig-a-like) right away and then progressed to big vape producing PV's and Mods but found they were too much so disciplined myself back to the E cab and am now a happy camper.

Started with 2 sets of Kanger 650vv batteries with T3d tanks. I had one "last smoke" when walking out of the B&M, one more "last smoke" before going to bed that night, and then one more "last smoke" a couple days later when both batteries went out within 15 minutes of each other. Silly me having two different juices and instead of just switching the tanks on a battery, would just pick up the other battery/tank when changing juice. Learned from that and haven't had another "last smoke" since, 4 and a half months ago. Best part is, I haven't even wanted one, so not even messing with nic levels at this point.

But I have upgraded to an MVP2 with 2 aerotank megas now.

#3 for me. I started with a 60 dollar BLU kit, and they kept me off cigarettes for about two weeks; but I found them so deeply unsatisfying and irritating that I went back to cigarettes and forgot all about vaping until several years later when I needed to quit smoking due to serious health problems. By then there were Spinners and Protanks and all kinds of marvels, and *that's* when I quit smoking for good; on the first day that I brought home my first Spinner and an iClear 16. That was in late November of 2013, and I haven't had a cigarette since, or even wanted one. I know it's different for everyone and I sympathize with people who struggle with the transition, and am acutely aware of how lucky I was that it 'worked' so well the second time. If it weren't for the progress in vaping when I gave it another shot, I wouldn't be writing this; I'd either be in a hospital or a grave.

I started with ego and ce4, quickly bought some aspire bdcs, moved on to a Nautilus and Mech Mod. Didn't quick smoking until I was using mechs and RBAs.

3. started trying to go the njoy route for a business trip started a few weeks ahead of the trip. wasn't sure they would would work (and it would take too many for the number of days on the trip), so hit a local vape shop and got set up with a battery, a simple tank, and a bottle of juice. made it through the week, haven't looked back since.

#3 for me. Back in February or March, I tried the Blu cigs that you can buy in the gas station. They were gawd awful. I think I used them for maybe 2 to 3 days and put them down, and never touched another e cig for six months. In September, I went to a real vape shop, bought an MVP2 with a single coil Kanger tank. That was the same day I smoked my last cigarette. The urge to smoke analogs lasted a day or two, and that was that. I don't miss smoking at all.

Went from cig-a-likes to clearos to Kangers to RDAs all within the span of my last pack of cigarettes, say a few weeks. No other pack of cigs had lasted more than a day. And only bought a few bottles of juice before I started DIY.

So I'm somewhat in between categories #1 and #2 perhaps.

Started with the cigalikes, still used them until about a month ago along with more advanced PV's and tanks. Now dropping my Nic to 3mg and lower and will quit vaping by early 2015.

eGo Twist and the cartridges (not cartomizers). Smoked and vaped for a month until I bought the Vivi Nova.

#3 24mg with an ego, quit and haven't looked back.

2. I was lucky enough to find ECF and ask for advice before I bought anything. Started with VV v3s, which is still what I use most of the time, though I'm up to five of them now. I have MVP2s, but have hand problems that make them hard to use much. I also just got an Istick just for my Nautilus, but it runs to hot for my beloved Davides. So yes, you can have shinyitis without going super advanced.

5 other started out with cig a like figured out that vaping could work for me permanently if I had a stronger vape , and quickly advanced to better set ups to seal the deal.

If the totally wicked titan/tornado is a cig a like, my answer (and my wife's) is #1. We shared the kit, then just stopped smoking together.

Started with a pair of ego batts and cartridges 43 months ago. First drag, no mo' smokes! Fortunately, it quickly got a lot better with the eGo mega dual coil cartomizer.

We sure have come a loooong way in a relatively short time!

Started out with #1 over 5 years ago. Remember the batteries barely lasted 1.5hr. Carried 4 of them. But I gotta say the first hit of that Ecig was my last analog. Moved on to a pass-thru at 5volts and a power supply. Then went to a Kanger, then an EGO now a Zeus at 5 volts (I like 5v the best). No cigarettes in over 5 years. As long as they don't change anything I'll stay with the Zeus.
