I quit on sept 13th I had my last smoke That morning had lost my job, Knew my wife would kill me If I kept on buying Analogs, Figured Id heard about vaping so looked for a brick and mortar store that had allright reviews. Went in said im a newb help. They set me up with a kamry x6 battery v/v and a protank 2 , It was like sucking a golf ball through a tube, so they did some modification and drilled one of the holes a bit bigger. was out of there 76 dollars later, a full set up 30 mill bottle of juice. and Havent touched an analog to this day. vaping is awsome. now Im looking into diy juice Because Im thinking down the road that is where there the FDA will try to regulate. But thats my story and Im sticking to it :)

Not sure on the number, but I started with a basic eGo and a Kanger single coil tank with 18mg RY4 flavor. When I bought my starter kit, I had 5 cigarettes left, and it took me 3 days to finish them. Never bought anymore after that. I took a couple drags off other people's cigarettes over the next week or so and ended up saying yuck and handing them back.

1. Yes, I started with cigalikes, used them until I quit smoking, and have not resumed smoking.

It took me about 5 days to completely quit smoking tobacco cigarettes. I used cig-alikes for the first 6 months or so, but was on the lookout for something non-proprietary early on, as the FDA was on the warpath back then, attempting to ban e-cigs. I knew they worked for me, and wasn't about to be stuck without another option. And I got tired of refilling cartos all the time. I was intrigued with bottom-feed mods, and bought a WetBox in the summer of 2010. It was cheap and leaky, but I loved the concept. When the REO Mini became available in the fall of 2010, I managed to get my hands on one of the first batch. Been a REO user ever since.

3. No, I started out with cigalikes and they didn't work for me. I later quit using more advanced PVs.

Tried cigalikes in 2010 out of curiosity, taste bad almost no vapor.
Tried iClear 16 in May 2014, stop smoking cold turkey, then go with evod tank, aro, trophy tank, aerotank, protank (3 and mini 3), kayfun, some drippers (igo-w3 and monkey brass), RSST, nautilus, ithaka, kayfun mini then taifun.
Using ego battery from smoktech, innokin SVD, Astro, KSD Novice then GP-PAPS.
Goes from Feellife liquid, Hangsen, Dekang, Liqua then DIY Liquids (flavor from TPA and local vendors)

Lately I find myself fiddling with simpler tanks like trophy tank and aerotank, because I'm a flavor junkie and tend to experiment with flavor.

For vapers who have quit smoking using e-cigs: Were you able to quit the first time around and what did you use?

Here are the options:

1. Yes, I started with cigalikes, used them until I quit smoking, and have not resumed smoking.
2. Yes, I started with 2nd or 3rd generation PVs, used them ‘til I quit smoking, and have not resumed smoking.
3. No, I started out with cigalikes and they didn't work for me. I later quit using more advanced PVs.
4. No, I started out with 2nd or third generation PVs and they didn't work for me. But I was later able to quit.
5. Other (please explain)

(I'm asking because most of the studies on the effectiveness of e-cigs for smoking cessation don't take into account what products are being used by smokers making their first quit attempt and also because some of these studies are are more like static snapshots as opposed to full length movies.)

EDIT: Seeing some of the initial responses, I realize there's a flaw in my methodology. Nos. 3 and 4 should take into account that on the first attempt some people never quit entirely and were dual users the whole time. The "went back to smoking" phrase rules out that possibility. I think 3 and 4 should have left out "and I went back to smoking." So should I ask the mods to shut down this thread and start over, edit the OP or just let it run its course?

FURTHER EDIT: I edited it. Executive decision. p.s. I'm a No. 3.
2, I had a friend who steered me down the 18650 path and it went off about as well as it could have. Sure, there were tense moments but overall it was pretty easy.

So, fwiw, here are the results of this very unscientific survey:

1. Yes, I started with cigalikes, used them until I quit smoking, and have not resumed smoking.---------------------------------23
2. Yes, I started with 2nd or 3rd generation PVs, used them ‘til I quit smoking, and have not resumed smoking.------------49
3. No, I started out with cigalikes and they didn't work for me. I later quit using more advanced PVs.---------------------------52
4. No, I started out with 2nd or third generation PVs and they didn't work for me. But I was later able to quit.-----------------3
5. Other (please explain)------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------4

It's interesting that there are so few No. 4 responses. Selection bias may not fully explain it.
