Awesome thread! Awesome questions, this is the answer I give to people when they ask me if I think vaping is an effective means of smoking cessation. I always tell them it depends on the device you are using, for reasons of reliability and/or quality of the vape, to which juices play a huge part too.

2 for me, never smoked a single cigarette from the day I picked up an ego.

I guess I'd be a 5? My story doesn't quite fit any of those. I was a smoker for several years, started young, lasted all through high school basically, and then I just up and quit. Cold turkey. Threw away my cigarettes, endured being a miserable ...... for a few weeks, and enjoyed nearly 3 years completely nicotine free. Over the past year (give or take), I've been experiencing a rekindling social life which included going to bars and drinking more often. Drinking and smoking were two things that have always gone hand-in-hand. The occasional smoke while drunk eventually led to the cravings rolling over into my sober life. A cigarette here or there to curb the cravings turned into full-fledged smoking again. Decided that I was feeling disgusting (and disgusted with myself), went out and bought a simple little EVOD Glass/iTaste VV 3.0 setup about a month ago and I've been completely cigarette free since.

2...
Started with an Ego-style (non--VV) and a T2 clearo. Was lucky that the 1st flavor I tried from a relative, became my ADV for over 1.5 years. I never planned to quit smoking, and smoked about 15-20 a day for 6+ yrs..
But I really liked vaping & loved that taste so much, that I started weaning down my cigs - I had my last cigarette just over a month after I started vaping.
:)
And coming up on 2 years without a cig in a couple months, in January. Still can't believe I'm saying that; never planned to quit!! And I juat recently started getting into dripping and more expensive, "gourmet" flavors a few months ago. But still vape that cheaper local flavor that I started with, regularly.

I think there's a Poll section here in this forum somewhere

...... soon moved to a spinner-type ego (VV) and protank, started rebuilding my PT coils with a microcoil and cotton. Got an eVic about 6 months into vaping lol, that summer..

Now mainly use a mech mod and RDA. Starting to focus on juice and flavors a LOT more recently (I'm a creamy custard/vanilla/marshmallow/Casey guy lol), since I stuck with the same local Marshmallow for soo long. Hardly vaped anything else. But I'm about to get an IPV3 or Sigelei 100watt
:D
I've been through lots of batteries.. I have an Aerotank V2 that I still use a lot too, on a Vision Spinner now as I type. gonna get a few more drippers. Maybe a Kayfun

I'd have to say that I'm a #3. Tried the ol' 21st Century Smoke cigalike, but was very disappointed. Later tried the NoFlame, and was a bit better, but not enough. Even later I got my first eGo/CE4 setup, and my last pack of analogs lasted me three days. Got my VV V3 and was done with the icky sticks. Moved up to the MVP2.0, then on to my very first mech mod just last week.

I guess I would say 3, with hesitation. So I'd like to explain. All together I WAS a 1 pack a day, 20 yr smoking. About 10 yrs ago I tried to quit. I tried the patches and eventually quit for 5 months, then went back. Then about 7 yrs ago, I quit cold turkey for 1 month. Then a few months later I tried Chantix and quit for 2 months and went back. Another year or so later I tried the electric cig-a-likes and almost quit. About 3 yrs ago I used the patch and gum and quit for about 2 months ago. Now up to June 21, 2014. My boyfriend said he was done and we went and bought the "A Clean Cigarette" he stopped that day, I quit the 27th and I could tell it wasn't stopping the cravings and it was very hard but I still didn't smoke an analog, although I wanted to. On September 13th, my son's 18th bday he told me that he smokes some, but he vapes too. I made him tell me all about it and went to the local B&M and bought a set-up. Ever since then I am satisfied. I don't want an analog anymore. If it weren't for vaping I'm sure I'd be back to smoking. I currently use an Evod for work, cuz it's small but when I'm out of work I use an Epower V3 3400mah battery and an Aspire VW 1100mah battery. How this helps!

Just went into a b&m one day and bought an ego twist and juice. Still had to smoke tobaccoo in the morning as I had to wait for my twist to charge.

Took about 2 weeks to figure out i need two, one for using and one for charging.

This was in the summer and ive never looked back.

Im now on mechs and kayfuns and the only regret is not doing it sooner;)

number 2

I started with kr808 batteries and cartomizers and 510 attys, used along with cigarettes till I quit (may 2.5 years using both). They were not colored like cigs and were a bit bigger so not cigalikes. Basically the quitting process took 2.5 years

There were periods (a few months) when I would only use cigarettes or only vape. I wouldn't say I went back to smoking but I didn't always make the effort or have the money to buy juice upfront.

Biggest problem was I had to buy everything online and I frequently bought juice I didn't like. Having access to B&M meant I wouldn't worry about buying my supplies weeks in advance.

I started with cigalikes and failed because an ex always wanted to light up a real one after a few puffs.
Second attempt with cigalikes, did OK because they were a gift and I couldn't afford to buy cigs. Lol.
Switched to a better PV, dual-user for about 6 months before "accidentally" quitting smoking entirely.
Not sure where this would fall on your survey.

number 3 for me.

I wasn't able to quit the first time around, but that was my fault as I entirely wasn't quite ready to quit and was dual using but had no intentions on quitting at that exact moment anyways.

When I did finally decide I wanted to quit, it wasn't completely easy but it wasn't hard either. It just took the right battery mods and atomizer setups, my choice of juice and nicotine levels and flavors that I prefer. I currently am using a sigelie zmax v3 and an aspire nautilus mini tank.

I thank myself all the time for making the change. I am still young, only 24. But smoked for about 7 years.
