I saw a segment on e-cigarettes on TV (may have been on Tech Now, not sure) over the summer and I thought it was a pretty cool idea. Filed it away in my mind I guess. I moved the beginning of October and my new situation did not allow for smoking inside. We tried to make one room a smoking room for me, with air purifier and exhaust fan, but it just didn't work- the smell was getting to other parts of the apt. Being a 2+ pack a day smoker, I despaired at the thought of virtually living outside to smoke. Then I remembered the e-cigarette I'd seen on TV...
Started researching on the net and found this forum. Like others, I read, watched videos, checked out some of the vendors. Picked a model to take the plunge with, and I have been pleasantly surprised. I thought nothing on this earth would ever get between me and my smokes.
I started with the idea of being able get my nic fix indoors but still smoking when I was outside, or if I just felt the need for a "real cigarette". Starting the day I got my kit, I went from 40-50 smokes a day to 4-5 a day. I ran out of smokes yesterday and just didn't bother to get more. So I had ONE smoke yesterday, and so far NONE today.
If you knew... tobacco cigs have been there for me for 42 years. My daily companions, ever faithful, there when nothing else was. I considered them as necessary as water and air. If I only had a few bucks and no food or smokes, I'd use it for smokes. This is the first day I have not lit one first thing upon waking.
It's up in the air whether I'll get a pack, just to have around. I have had a panicky feeling since I realized I had run out yesterday. I'm only 2 weeks in to vaping, and I'm not going to berate myself if I need some transition time. After all, it was not my intention to quit, lol. I think the more I get used to the idea of quitting smokes though, the more appealing I'll find it. Especially since I have not had one in well over 24 hours and have not murdered anyone.
So, that was the long way to say thanks to the folks on this forum. If it were not for all the info in its various forms here, who knows if I would have even given this a shot.
