Actually...........I started vaping and quit smoking July 1st. Since then I have not only not had a single analog, I have also lost just over 12 pounds. Basically I am vaping all the sweets I had been eating. When I get a craving for something sweet I just vape a sweet juice. It's been working great.

Yea, that would be great!! I was a little reluctant to quit smoking because I was a little worried about putting on weight. I have always been thin but the last couple years I have gotten a little chunky. I think I used to snack sometimes to keep from having another cigarette. I think vaping is already curing the snack attacks!!!:p

quit smoking or lose weight first

My new years resolutions are to lose weight and quit smoking. I realize that I do not have the will power to do both at the same time. I know that when you quit smoking you usually gain weight so I am not sure if I should try to lose weight first and then try to quit smoking or quit smoking and then try to lose all the weight.

i was trying to quit with the patch...didn't work BTW...just pulled the darn thing off and smoked like a freight train! However, I was gaining weight like C R A Z Y! I finally just quit weighing in...too depressing.

Since I started vaping, but I have not COMPLETELY quit smoking, I don't think I have gained any more...maybe even lost a bit! Still won't weigh in, but maybe I will tomorrow!

There were a couple of studies done, reference in another thread about PG and Nicotine testing. It was found that the only side effect of inhaling massive amounts of PG in lab rats was that they seemed to gain weight. On the other hand, the nicotine testing of lab rats caused them to lose weight. So, maybe, the PG and the Nicotine cancel each other out in the e-cig. Since we all tend to gain weight when we quit smoking, it sounds like the nicotine in cigarettes has helped us to keep weight off somewhat and switching to e-cigs has a net zero effect??

Started vaping 11-7-09 and I'm trying to do the same thing! I'm glad to hear it's working that way for you! :thumb:

I'm addicted to sweets too and so far have found the vanilla flavored nic juice tastes really good, so I'm going for that instead of something sweet to eat. I also try to work out regularly, so between the two, I'm hoping I won't gain any weight...

Started vaping just a few days ago. Haven't even completely gotten rid of analogs, and it's already easier to work out, which is going to be good for weight.

I haven't even started exploring all the delicious liquid flavors. I always crave something (often sweet) to munch at the computer because I can't smoke in my apartment (my previous fix for a sweet tooth). Vaping sounds like the perfect fix there.

So I'm guessing that vaping's effect on your weight mostly just depends upon how you used analogs in the past, and your behavioral changes when you quit analogs.

I've been vaping for 8 months. My weight remained stable for the first couple of months and over the last 6 months I've put on 28 pounds. I'm attributing that to improved taste and smell and less appetite suppression and chocolate which I never used to eat much of :). I was previously the same weight for 20 odd years. I'm still not overweight according to BMI measurements though.
