What up ECF?

So it's been about 1 year and 2 months since my last cigarette, and 3 weeks ago I figured I would try and go the entire day on 0mg nic.

It was no problem, but I figured I didn't have anything to do, I was hungover and spent the entire day playing video games, the real test would be bringing 0mg only to work.

Monday comes along, I'm vaping 0mg all day and only raised my voice twice (which I'm pretty sure I would've done anyway).

I keep going through like this and do a full week of 0mg, with barely any withdrawal issues at all.

Week 2 comes along and I figure, since I'm not getting any nicotine I might as well just not vape at all. I brought my gear to work with me just in case (still only loaded with 0mg). When I'm waiting for something to load at work I would reach for my e-cig, and then catch myself and avoid it. Beyond reaching for it without thinking about it, I made it through the day no problem. I've done two weeks so far (without the 0mg even), and the past week I haven't had any e-cig stuff on me.

I've been out for beers with people who are smoking, in a car with a buddy who is vaping (windows up), and I haven't felt a craving that didn't go away within a minute.

Anyway, I never started this thinking I would be quitting vaping, and I still don't have that attitude, but if it happens, it happens. This was just an experiment about how hard it would be for me to quit vaping that I figured I'd share.

Edit: I also wanted to add that when I quit smoking I used to rage so much to the point where I thought I would black out I was so angry. So this is a very welcome change.

Good on you lickwid :)! It is very encouraging to hear of things like this. Although I enjoy vaping and have no plans to stop anytime soon, it helps to know it works.

I think trying to quit analogs is so hard because the body is dealing with withdrawl of nicotine and 1000's of other chemicals at the same time whereas vaping is mostly just the nicotine.

Thanks lickwid, that's encouraging. I decided I'd give myself a year to get down to 0 mg (started July 2011) and then another year to get off the vaping altogether, so I appreciate the report on how you are doing.

Funny, i actually gave myself the same plan. Glad to see it's not that hard for some. Quite encouraging.

Way to go lickwid! Thanks for sharing your story. We all know what's it's like to try to quit smoking, but it's rare to hear stories about someone's experience with stepping down on nic levels or quitting vaping all together. It gives me a little insight into what it might be like to stop vaping (although I don't want to stop right now!) Keep up the good work!

Awesome likwid. Words of encouragement for me. I started at 16mg 3 months ago and am now at 10mg. I'm finding so long as I have a flavor I like, it is easier to step down. Each time I mix up a new flavor that I am enjoying alot, I just step it down 2mg (mostly because if I enjoy it that much, I will breath more vapor than air). Eventually I cool down on it and, BAM, next step achieved. My current mind set is that I really never want to stop vaping. I just enjoy it too much. But if it comes down to it, and it is not required any more, I may stop. The hard part for me will be drinking a beer with out it. I'm so used to a Canadian in one hand, and my PV in another. Maybe I'll keep it around for just such occasions.

Congrats lickwid! You inspired me to take the leap....well almost :)

After a brief stint at 12mg and then right back up to 24mg I decided to give lower nic another shot and for the last few days I'd been vaping 12mg again and just today I drastically cut it down to 4mg

I don't even feel like I'm getting any nicotine, but it's just enough to satisfy my vaping urges and surprisingly enough there's still a slight throat hit at 4mg (on the Lavatube at 5.5V with a 3.2ohm atty). I think the only thing holding me back from 0mg nic is the TH, I just don't enjoy the experience without it.

Always great to hear a positive story like yours!

Well good luck man. The lack of TH is pretty tough to deal with, but what I did was DIY myself a strong flavor, which normally I would make at 20%, and did it at 50% lol. The extra flavor definitely helped.
