Quitting Vaping is not the same as quitting smoking

Hey All,

So as a recent vapor, I quit smoking a little over 2 months ago. Have started my own little ecig biz, (not big, just sell to friends etc, make enough to make vaping free for me lol). I started with 24s, my wife started with 18s. Within a couple weeks I moved down to 18s. Been there for a while. Then the week before christmas I started with 9's (initally tried 0, but the zero TH didn't do it for me) Went to the inlaws for xmas for 5 days, where I knew vaping would be difficult, as they didn't know we smoked (or so I thought). Anyways, I went 5 days withought vaping. Not because I couldn't (bathroom, our room etc and the provari was loaded in my bag) I had no mood swings, no real cravings etc. Since we've been home, I've started vaping again, but so little. I went though about 3-4 Ml of juice / day before.. Now I'm 1/2 way though the 5 ml bottle I made of 9mg a few days before xmas. I can honestly say now, that if for some reason I could not vape tomorrow I would not be back on analogs. :) I really think that the claim that nic is not nearly as addictive without the other things in analogs is true, or we absorb so little nic. I have never noticed anything going from 24-18-9 either. No really physical things anyways, perhaps some mental changes.

That's good news. I find that I still have cravings for a vape the same as I did for a smoke, but like you, I can go without vaping much easier. And half of the local vapers that I know have either quit completely or are vaping 0mg, so I'm convinced that this is a fantastic way to eliminate nicotine dependency.

I found the same thing with me. I don't HAVE to have my PV with me. I do just fine without it. It's so funny and it's only been a month. I also don't have any cig cravings. I enjoy my vaping and I'm lowing my nic little by little. My goal is not to vape forever. I want to be free of it all someday.

I agree about dropping the nic level. it was very easy for me and the main loss was the TH dropping each time. It's especially easy to drop with cartomizers - I just put away the old juices and started topping off my cartos with the lower level so it was gradual. I can't do 0mg either - I need some TH so I am on 4mg and I do 0mg as a pacifier when vaping too much. And I found the lower I got my nicotine and the further I got from having smoked cigarettes, the less desperate my habit became. But I do enjoy the simple solitary relaxation vaping gives me (as did smoking) and I do desire that so I am the kind that does sneak the vapes in the bathroom of relative's houses (with unnoticeable flavors like vanilla etc)

I chain vape but have gone 3 days without any noticable differences. I honestly think nicotine is easier to break free from than smoking because of all the other crap that's in cigarettes. If I can go 3 days without without wanting to kill something, then I know that if they ever get banned, I can quit completely. Hopefully that will never happen as I do enjoy my tasty flavors. That's the only thing I craved, the taste, and nothing else.

My dad and people at work (well, most of them) don't know I vape, or that I smoked. I don't do it when I'm hanging out with my dad and only stealth vape at work. I've found it's not a big deal and I can easily go without it. I'm also slowly working on lowering my nic levels and have gone from 24mg to my current 12mg and will most likely go lower on my next order. My only issue now is that I really enjoy vaping and it's turned into a bit of a hobby for me. My goal is to be done with it within the next couple of years and I don't think it will be that difficult to give up when the time comes.

I also have been surprised. After I caught a severe cold in December, I slept a lot and found I had no desire to vape - not even an analog craving. Was not a problem. In previous years, I would have sneaked a smoke even with pneumonia, but THAT urge has gone.

I did start vaping again after about a week, but my standard 24mg was way too high, so I ordered 6mg juice, and I've been doing great with it. I have no plans to discontinue vaping, but if the flavors remain good, I may drop the nic to '0' and see how it goes.

I can't wait till all you people quit and I can grab your stuff for cheap on the classifieds :D
Hold yer breath, cuz I ain't sellin'! ;)

Like MikeinGA, with a cold, I can easily go without vaping, but would have snuck a few cigs back when. I'm sick now and really can't vape, and I found reading this board was good enough. With analogs, that would have made me crazy. I vape 0 nic, so the only real addiction is the act of holding a stick up to my face & blowing in/out "smoke."

One thing I'l suggest is that even though you can vape in places/situations you couldn't smoke, don't get that habit started. Remember how tough some of the triggers were for giving up analogs? Do you really need a trigger every where? I won't vape in my car, I won't vape in a public space, and I won't vape in front of my kid. Should the time come to give up vaping, it's not incorporated into every facet of my life.

Great thread. I started 3 months ago at 36 mg. I'm now down to 20 mg and plan, in the next week or so, to take it down to 15 mg. In the evnings I vape 10 mg as my sleep was being affected by the 20 mg. Eventually I want to be vape free eventually but am in no rush to do so. I can go out now without my PV and do not suffer any withdrawal but I started slowly with short calculated trips without my PV. Like others I can go without vaping for hours sometimes if I'm involved in a project or task. Couldn't do that with analogs. When I do quit vaping I know it will be physically tough and emotional cuz these 2 little guys have saved my life and will be missed dearly.
Happy New Year, Vapoor.

I found your first sentence extremely unpleasant. It actually made me a little panicky.
But I'll get there.

I've been vaping now for a little over 4 months can't stand the smell of analogs, don't get tempted to have one anymore! When I started vaping I was chain vaping like a fiend for the first 2-1/2 months! Now I find I can put it down for an hour or so before I want to vape again!

I really believe that nicotine isn't the main problem with being addicted to analogs! Who knows what addiciting properties all those 4k+ chemicals have on the human body! I didn't even really go through all the crazy withdrawal symptoms when I started vaping!

I quit analogs a couple years ago for 6 months and got badly ill! I had flu like symptoms for weeks and was coughing up the nastiest stuff I ever seen!

I don't see myself quitting vaping ever! I love it! I love the act of smoking, exhaling "smoke" which is why I was so hooked on analogs for 20 years!

Long live vaping!! ^_^
