I've been wondering for a while how these liquid sellers think they can get away with trademark infringement. It was a foregone conclusion that if you sell a liquid called 'Camel' with a graphic of a pack of Camel next to it you are treading on dangerous ground. I mean, it's not really as if Camel flavour liquid even tastes like a Camel cigarette is it? It's merely the power of auto suggestion that you think there is a resemblance in taste. If it did, chances are you wouldn't want it lol
I don't have any opinion on it. You steal a trademark, you can expect to get stung by the owners. End of story.

it's probably just called camel because it's based on turkish tobacco in general. the smart thing would do would be to name it after the type of tobacco it's based on (Virginia, Cavendish, Burleys, etc.)

I agree. Hay Barn, Oak Forest, Floral Bouquet, etc. They almost sound idyllic, and describe the flavour to a tee, more so than Winston and Marlboro.

I received the following summary about E-CigaretteDirect's press release in response to Philip Morris' lawsuit, but I don't have the full text or website of the press release, or the comic video.

"E-cigarette distributor E-CigaretteDirect, LLC has released a comic video on the use of the letter "M" after Philip Morris USA filed a trademark infringement lawsuit in the North Carolina Middle District Court against the company, claiming that the word "M'boro" used in the description of E-CigaretteDirect's "M'boro like flavored e-liquid" is "confusingly similar" to PM USA's Marlboro and the font used for the letter M in M'boro is also "confusingly similar" to the font PM USA uses on its Marlboro cigarette packaging." (Online PR News 07/26)

VeppoCig is trying to get some publicity out of this -- Phillip Morris Sues Veppo E-Cigarettes

The article says: "PM USA would like E-CigaretteDirect.com and VeppoCig.com to stop using the letter "M" in that particular font, claiming that it is 'confusingly similar to the font PM USA uses on its MARLBORO cigarette packaging."

It is ALL about using the letter "M".
