I actually know the answer to this one.:)
The difference between now and then with the coil heads is because of all the sub-ohm resistance coils out there, with a .2 coil it is much easier to get a bad one that could drop into danger zone for your battery. Better safe than sorry situation.

Anyone using a mech should know they can't use a .2 ohm build in there.

I came here to ask what I consider a serious question, and some one thinks it's funny. Sometimes I just don't get it.

It could have been a mistake on hitting the ratings. I am sure she will be along to explain.

My granddaughter(age 27) likes minty menthol, which I mix for her. Should I encourage her to stop vaping mint menthol?

I am sure that @NolaMel thought you were kidding. Why do you think you should encourage her not to vape mint menthol? I don't think anyone here understood that you truly have a concern about the flavors. If she likes minty menthol, she would vape minty menthol. It is 95% safer than a Virginia Slim Menthol cigarette.

I didn’t realize that was a serious question myself. Why would you encourage her to quit?

Are you referring to the ohm reading of the atomizer? Or is this checking flow from battery to atty?
I have read a lot of mech info here on ecf but never really intended to use them, so there are some general practices I might be missing.
I intend to keep any mechs in storage as a last resort, but I do want to know how to be safe with them of course. I know about reasonable coil builds for the battery load, but I don't know ohms law. So I can't calculate what a build will do but I can read info about it, coilX draws 15 amps so demands a battery with X continuous discharge.

I am referring to the resistance the coil is set up for. A dead short will kill a mech mod. You measure the resistance of the coil to make sure it is safe to use. Example, I use 1.4 Ohm coils in my REOS Grand, and with a 3.7V battery I get 11 watts of vaping power. Been doing it like that for years. I measure the coil, after it is installed but before firing it, with a multi meter. Safety is up to the user with a mech mod.

I definitely have that concept locked in with mech building, that the coils need to be checked to make sure they are kosher, and I see what you mean about making sure the resistance is stable now. Still have plenty to learn about mech operation, but I'm going to be sure of what I'm doing when I try it out eventually.
I am kind of looking forward to building differently, changing it up. I also bought a spool of Stainless wire and I'm experimenting with Temp Control. The Aegis Solo ran in TC really well and that was a nice experience. Unfortunately, I put the same atty on my Smoant Cylon and that mod was terrible... Sad.

Not clear. If it's the minty menthol that keeps her from smoking, then no. If she just likes it but could be happy with some other flavor or with very little flavoring, then have her read this thread. On paper, menthol is approved for inhalation... Your call. I still vape mint and menthol, but I use just a hint of flavoring anyway, so I'm not at all concerned.

New 'baddie'. Mint/ menthol flavor causes cancer.
