I add the nic each time. But I use 50/50 nic/vg mixture to get it to 50 mg/ml. I don’t like handling 100 mg/ml. If the flavoring percentage changes and you use a premade base, wouldn’t that change the final nic content? Unless you used the same % of flavorings each time. I’m also a non steeper of everything. But lately I have been warming my juice in warm water after mixing to do a mini steep.

Another good reason to premix an unflavored nic base, not having to handle the 100 as often. And not having to open it to air as much, either.

Yes, when you later add flavors, it will drop the nic a tad, and increase the PG (probably) a tad. But unless you're running around 20% or more flavor, won't make much difference. At my nic level, it's not really a concern. For those who vape at low levels of nic, it might be noticeable. Playing with one of the mixing calculators would let you fine tune.

Oh, I know you oddballs are out there. In big numbers too. :)

I have another custard that I have not tried, that was reported to be very good. I remember some of the people that liked it, did not like the Cap version. It is Inawera Custard. :|

Isn’t it odd how much flavors change from brand to brand? I hate CAP vanilla ice cream but love LBs. Same with peach flavors:some are great while others smell/taste awful. I’m not surprised to hear INA is superior to Cap with the custard

I guess I am one of the odd balls then, I have three devises in front of me right now, and all have a recipe with Cap Vanilla Custard in them. One of them has (I Think) 10 % in it, I vape these all day. :?:

Right now probably 90% of mine are custards and cheesecakes, with a few fruit mixes rounding it up. I hated commercial custard juices, so it took me a while to try it in diy. Super glad I did!

I have had the stuff on hand for a long time, and like you never found one that I liked. Then around a year ago, I tried "Game Over Custard" and I have been using it ever sense, along with a few others. :|

I’m game to try that. Just printed out a recipe for it! Bonus, I have everything on hand :)
Do you have a preferred recipe/mixer for it?

I don’t remember if I shared this one or not but I like it and have been using some each day for a while now.

I honestly just like it the way it is, I did try some strawberry with it once, but the flavor changed on me, and I never tried again.

IIRC, it’s a short steep custard. It’s not as eggy as cap to me.

My opinion is that one of the biggest problems with custards is the long steep time. If you don't steep them long enough (3-4 weeks+) they aren't ready. I think alot of DIY E-liquid vapers get impatient on the steep times. I've been there. Fruits are basically shake and vape, so it skews expectations.

P.S. I love CAP Vanilla custard V1, as long as I'm willing to wait for it to steep. I haven't used it in awhile because of my impatience.

I am too too impatient. I “fool” myself by mostly mixing once a month. The day I mix, I pull out the previous month’s mixes to start using. I usually have few week or two steepers I can pull out in between if I want to. If I hit a real winner that takes f.o.r.evvvvah to steep, I’ll mix a bigger bottle asap and put it back while I have what’s ready to vape on tap.

Hello DIYers! I hope all is well. I was able to mix up that Peppermint Snowfall yesterday and it smells delicious. I can’t wait to try it but I’ll give it a few days to steep.
I’m wondering if most of you mix with a pre-mixed base or if you add the nic each time? And if you do mix with a base, do you let it steep before using? I like to try to keep pre-mixed base on hand but yesterday I discovered I was out of base. While I was mixing more I thought to ask you if mixers typically let it steep before using? I just mixed it with my mini electric mixer and then shook the bottle a bunch and proceeded to make my recipe, but it got me wondering about what others do.

That recipe is S&V but I do usually give it overnight to settle. I don't use a base - I just mix the recipe with the appropriate amounts of nicotine, PG, and VG. If I am doing several sfts, I usually mix up enough base for just those. That seems easier for 5, 10, or 15 ml testers.
