Good morning. Yesterday was tough at work. I’m usually pretty good at troubleshooting at my work but have one that is really throwing me for a loop. The machine has intermittent issues and is changing symptoms. I gave the guy a quote that’s hopefully high enough that he will just buy a new unit. I called the factory for help twice and they weren’t much help.
This may not apply.. but sometimes I find it helpful to throw the object on the ground and/or hit it with a hammer :D

That is a method I fully endorse. It might not always fix anything, but it sure does feel good.

Good morning, hitt :) Sounds like a new unit is the best way to go .

I agree. The machine is 15 years old and it's probably time to replace it but the customer is a little tight on money. Either it's 2100 to repair or 4300 to replace. The new machine would have a three year parts and labor warranty on it.

Pricey when money's tight either way.

I called the and am on hold now. No option to leave a message, no indication of what the wait time is. Great CS!

Their customer service works exactly as intended, which is to make you go away and stop bothering them. If you tough it out until you get through to a person the next stage will be to put you on hold while they check your file. And maybe drop the call. Eventually you should be able to make it through to a supervisor who tells you there's nothing they can do.

Then you ask for a corporate address/ceo/contact person for your 'lawsuit'. That usually works.

Speaking of which, my boss came to me this morning whining about the renewal bill he got for the software that I use for writing forms for welding inspections and certifications. It is expensive but they raised it quite a bit this year and gave the excuse that they had to do a bunch of coding to update to international standards. It was his idea several years ago for me to become a certified welding inspector. I could take it or leave it. We don't do a lot and usually it barely pays for itself. I let him know that if he doesn't renew the software then I'll be spending at least a couple hours each time we do a test instead of a couple minutes to write the paperwork.

That's basically the same story I've heard from everyone that has it. One guy I deal with through my work was trying to tell me how great it was and trying to tell me I should sign up for it. He forgot that he had mentioned before how hard it was to get ahold of someone and when they did send someone out to replace his dishwasher, they wired it wrong and damaged the new dishwasher.

Sadly, but frugal as the hubs can be. He repairs everything. I have appliances that was purchased in 93 when the house was built. All work but someday I want (not need of course) a new stove. Having a handyman husband is a good thing but..
No mixing yet! Too busy. Need to because on last 60mL Will have to mix on Friday

On covid..my last test was negative but two patients have been hospitalized for covid with positive signs. It's a mess.

My appliances that came with the new house are all original when I bought the house in 2002. Well except the fridge as I brought the one I had with me and since replaced it. My handle on my microwave fell off a couple of years ago and one of my stove burners is out but I keep on trucking. My goal for the next five years is to get hardwood flooring throughout, and all new appliances. Just so darned expensive! So I'm holding out as long as I can but this carpet has to go soon. I love the hardwood I do have and I will definitely be putting in hardwood throughout.

I've heard both good and bad things about a home warranty. But they get horrible reviews. My coworker got one when they bought their house as the sellers gave them one (or the realtor...can't remember). It takes forever to get someone out there (like weeks), and they only replace what's broken (not an entirely new unit), and they've had to get them out multiple times for the same thing. From what I hear, they use subpar companies to repair things.

Just thinking about my situation...I've only had to replace my heat pump in all these years with no major repairs needed for other stuff. So I've saved money by not getting one and paying that monthly fee for over 18 years. Plus they charge you a fee to even come out on top of the monthly charge. The charge would have been higher than I paid for my heat pump. I guess it just depends but I have no desire to get one. When my heat pump went out my company was here by 6 pm and it was installed by midnight...same day...no waiting.

How did that work out with your boss?

Our existing subscription doesn't expire until October so he said he was not going to pay it right now and wait and see if they don't lower their price if they get enough complaints or companies quitting their subscription. The problem is that there aren't many options out there and this was about the most user friendly one I could find. Oh well, if he cancels it then maybe I'll just stop doing the weld testing.

Haven't followed all your posts (hey, they can be a bit long)

LOL I don't blame you. I am done the husband continues a day or two. I think. I hope its two because I have not even totally unpacked, let alone done anything useful. I slept until 10:10. It was AWESOME.

Yoga only today. Then I must attack my tasks like a rabid ferret. Ugh.
