How did your son get to go to traffic court instead of paying the ticket? I'm wondering if we should find a traffic lawyer to try to get the charge moved to a non moving violation.
I think since it was his first ticket, the cop asked him if he would like to go to driving school to eradicate the ticket and son said yes. He had to go to court and tell the judge he wanted to go to driving school and pay the fee. Then the following Saturday he went to driving school for two hours. I paid $150 and it was all over.

I just bought a gold recurve dual rda. I didn't have anything gold. I watched videos on it and I wanted it, especially after the seed was planted by @Skeebo . The code atom10 works for 10% off atomizers at elementvape.com.

But, but, you didn't need anything else, right? haha

The highway patrol didn't offer driving school. I looked up a traffic lawyer near her and emailed them. I'm going to try to see how much it would cost to get it reduced to non moving violation. I talked with my boss who has a law degree and he said it will do no good for my daughter to go to court without a lawyer so either we should pay the ticket or higher a lawyer and try to get it reduced. He said it would cost twice the amount of the ticket plus court costs most times.

You're better off to pay a ticket here. Lawyers are very pricy.

Not that I can tell. They said she was doing 72 in a 50. She said she was doing 60 but the speed limit sign she saw said 60. It was in a construction zone but he didn’t put that on the ticket like he was doing her a favor.

Good thing he didn't put that on the ticket. Speeding fines are generally doubled in the zones, at least in the states I have lived in. I'd fight it in court if possible. It's been a long time since I got a speeding ticket. In Florida, where I got my last one probably in the mid 90's, you were able to elect to go to driving school and that would keep points off your license. Back then it was the points insurance looked at so it would not affect your insurance rates. Times have changed though on how they report things and I believe insurance agencies now pay close attention to the speeding tickets being reported.

Don't know though for sure. Last ticket I got was in 99 and it was for going through a railroad crossing while the signals were on. It was a 8 lane road in Miami by the airport. A police officer was tripping the signal to catch violators and I was pulled over with about 6 other cars. I pleaded no contest which reduced the fine, but I think I still got two points on my license for it.

I got a gold and a black one. Message me when you are about to set it up... I have a tip or two and can provide a picture. I hope you like it.

How did you do? I read that if the officer doesn’t show up then you get off.
I lost, the thing is I was asked how fast I thought I was going by the officer and I said I don't know, maybe 72... the officer wrote 72 "drivers admission" on the ticket which I signed. Lesson, don't admit to anything and don't sign the ticket.

    He didn't even clock me.

    *edit*

I learned two things going to court often, court cost was $100 but just paying a ticket under 10 mph was only $60 and doesn't show up on insurance.

I fought no less than 10 speeding tickets under 10 mph before learning that I could save myself the trip downtown AND pay less with no detrimental effects. I always fought because of insurance, not because I was right and it was standard operating procedure in Memphis for the officers not to come to court and the ticket be dismissed for minor traffic violations.

Good morning random folks :) Have you any plans today?

My gd is picking me up in a couple hours to do a wee bit of grocery shopping.

    Good morning.

I'm taking the little one for a haircut. They are starting school on Monday... I am not all that thrilled about it either. If adults can't get social distancing right I don't know how they expect a bunch of 8th graders to be successful at it.

My youngest moved into an apartment to go back to college. Then we find out that she will only go to one class four times this semester while the rest of the time and the rest of her classes are online only. Oh well, she wanted to go. I think she had enough of living at home. That's ok, I was kind of ready for her to go as well.

When anyone is stopped by the police for anything driving related, they're just waiting for the person to say "I don't know", as an answer to any of their questions. In court, that "I don't know" will be a response they'll use...to claim the person wasn't aware and alert while driving. So he/she couldn't know how fast they were going, or if the light was really still yellow or not when they went through it, etc. depending on what they were accused of doing. ;)

I was once speeding in Wisconsin, which is notorious for nailing speeders for even doing a couple over, especially out of state, and was doing 70 in a 55. I knew it, he knew it and told me so. He asked me where I was coming from and headed (had Texas plates).. told him from Northern MN to the lower peninsula in MI and that I was in a hurry, I had a long way to go. He let me off without a ticket, and just told me to slow down. Couldn't believe my luck!! He probably got thrown off by my honesty, which is usually the best policy. I would imagine many people use all sorts of excuses, and I just told him the truth. But I feel like that was a one time thing, like a one-use 'get out of jail free card' from monopoly.

That lawyer is not giving you good advice. It can be very valuable to show up in court even without a lawyer.

Everyone talking about "Traffic school" well, some states will let you take an online or in person course about "safe driving" and then you take a test, and like, it is usually MORE than the ticket by about 25 bucks but worth it IF the moving violation is going to significantly increase your daughter's insurance. It can be worth doing cif NOT beause if your daughtier gets TWO speeding tickets it will ASSUREDLY increase her insurance and it may be high anyway due to her age (at least she is not a boy. OMG me and my husband paid out 1500 bucks once to a truck he hit while "swerving for puppies" and then we had to get him another car because his was totaled. It sucked, but his insurance would have SKYROCKETED.)

It most certainly did and the freaking blow into machine he got after his DUI of 15 hits of acid. We were not paying his insurance by then.

It should have instructions or at least a webpage or something that states whether your daughter is eligible for like, traffic school of some sort. READ the very, very fine print.

Otherwise, have you daughter go in her cutest outfit and mea culpa but "Judge there is no WAY I was going that fast and maybe they will reduce the amount of the FINE but ALSO the points for insurance. It is not like going to court will make anything WORSE, I mean it's not going to affect her ticket NEGATIVELY.

With that high a speed though and etc. her best bet is for a reduction, the judge is more likely to give it to her with a "guilty with an explanation" (I thought the speed limit was higher, the last sign I saw, I was not going over 60 I am CERTAIN, etc., etc.)

You need lawyers for DUIs not SPEEDING tickets.

Yes @FranC I am indeed supposed to be moving. I went to the leasing office and got the key while the husband then like, went to the place and waited for his "4 guys." He told me to go back to the hotel and do "whatever." I went to Walmart first for some things I needed and etc. Which was fine. Then I came back to keep the dog company. The husband is like, organizing the "4 guys" which turned out the be a freaking FAMILY?

I would be ....... I was expecting 4 burly dudes and instead it was one wiry LITTLE dude, 2 kids, one teen girl and one preteen BOY and the WIFE I assume.

I'm sorry but I know as a female I am not capable of like, carrying as much as quickly as um, a burly construction worker type (This is what they showed on the site) and as to the two KIDS, that sounds like ILLEGAL labor to ME. I mean the boy looked like he was 11 MAYBE 12.

I personally would be asking for 3/4 of my money back but I guess the husband will have to tell me how they performed. Etc.

So I am taking a little break here. Kosher?
