Morning. A good morning? I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind into that frame of thinking. But it is a morning, one more than the rest of the mornings I've morninged.
I like it alright. I like Minikins better but when they ran out I had to get somethingI think I bought a Lustro but didn't care much for it and put it in storage.
so I got a few of themDidn't the same thing happening a few years ago - but this time during the summer months, were it was cooler and less humid in Florida then it was up North/North East
Same here - supposed to get 2nd around March 9th - they're supposed to call to arrange appointment . . .

Not much. Work, work out, do some cooking, do some laundry. Probably watch a few episodes of Magnum PI. But nothing exciting.Good morning random folksHave you any plans today?
I was thinking of mixing and that didn’t go anywhere. I still may though. Need to get out of lazy mode. Not much. Work, work out, do some cooking, do some laundry. Probably watch a few episodes of Magnum PI. But nothing exciting.
You?
I know. It just isn’t normal.Morning Merry Mixing Mixers!
Not much going on today, I'm more worried about all those people freezing down south.
They keep piling on work for me. I told my boss the other day it's about time to hire me a helper, or bump up my pay. None of which will happen. Since August (well really before that) I have had to do processes that show exactly how I run my computer system. Step by step using the steps recorder to capture screenshots and typing in the descriptions and circling every move I make. I do one a week typically. One of them had over 400 screenshots. The one I'm working on now has over 600 screenshots and they are extremely time consuming. Just crazy. They know if I leave/retire there will be no backup and nobody else knows how to do it. I tried telling them these processes will not be better than face to face training but they won't hire anyone and they don't care. And they just keep piling on work. So this has added like a whole other job to my already busy schedule. I have many more to do and I've already done tons of them. I think it is opening some eyes to what I have to do to get my job done so there's that.My work load has dwindled down to almost nothing. I haven't had anything new come in since Friday. This cold spell has really taken it's toll. It seems like the walk in business in the showroom has gone to near nothing also. Hopefully with the temps getting back to normal by the end of the week then things will pick up.
If not to personal a question - What is your profession ? Or what kind of work do you do?
.
That's a loaded question. I work for a small welding supply company with only 13 employees so everyone does a little bit of everything. My title( means nothing) is service manager. I'm a master electrician and a certified welding inspector with an associate degree in industrial electrical technology. I mostly repair industrial welding and cutting equipment. We also have about 150 pieces of rental equipment that I maintain. I don't do a lot of it since it's mainly for our customers but I also give welding certification tests when needed. Besides those things, I tend to be the one that everyone comes to when they have computer issues. I don't have IT training but have learned a lot over the years and some of the folks I work with are almost computer illiterate. Like I said before, my title is service manager but I don't manage anyone besides myself. My boss is good about giving me free reign to run the service department as I see fit so it's been a good fit for me for the last 23 years.

I think I'm due for a vacation day. I think I may take Friday off.![]()
Reminding them I can retire at any moment led to me doing these processes. You might kindly remind them that you can retire any time you want. I've seen that scenario before where a company doesn't train anyone new until someone leaves and it's too late. If I end up at the same job when I retire, I know they won't train anyone and will probably just close the service department. As soon as we get the youngest through college, I'm going to start really paying a lot extra on the mortgage to get the house paid off early. I already pay some extra each month but want to do more. I think I've got about six years left if I keep going at the current rate. I just don't want to be stuck working if I don't want to. With the house paid off and no longer paying for college expenses, it wouldn't take a lot to maintain things.
They will be in all sorts of hurt if I retire. If I retire tomorrow they will probably hire me back as a consultant which I've thought of heavily. I could draw retirement and charge them out the .... for my consultant services.
But I think I should be paid fairly for the extra work this program has caused me...not only the processes/instructions but just the monthly time I spend on it since we expanded the system to do more for us.I'm impressed, you did good! That's a loaded question.
