View attachment 764221 Any suggestions to try to get a candy -ish type flavor for this recipe? Thanks
You need to find either a grape candied or a bb candied type flavoring to add. Whichever one you want dominate in flavor. Or maybe try the pixie stick flavoring altho a bottle is currently on the way, I have yet to play with that flavoring, but understand that is what it is used for.

Just brainstorming here.

3% is a good place for the S&T imo, maybe try a blueberry candy or FA oba oba? I like to use Cap jelly candy with some of my WF pixie mixes.

I LOVE RF Soda Base. It is probably the best of the fizzy flavors I have tried, except for FW Pink Champagne, which doesn't go with everything (grapefruit for one.) I put Soda Base in almost everything I make. I think I might even get a passable ginger ale out of that and some ginger root. We shall see.

I expect this to take a long time to get right but I have to start somewhere. It might be that one of the Chai bases would work for me, but I don't have anything challenging to work on right now so Chai Masala it is.

Good to hear this about the soda base since I just ordered some.

That sure seems like a lot of blueberry and grape.
The blueberry is probably on point for a candy, not a strong flavor from what I've read and most grapes are the same way. I'd lower one of them myself but not both.

I wish BCF included a description of the the flavor concentrate from the manufacturer like Nic River does. I keep going back n forth between the 2 sites and confusing myself lol!
I keep a tab open on ELR or Reddit flavor list when flavor shopping.

I would probably add a 2nd type of bb, probably bb extra, but then I would use the bb wild @ 4 -5 and the extra @ 2-3 % keeping the original 7% total for bb. And you are correct, grape is not a really strong flavor so I would lower it. Maybe play with % to find where you like it.

    From Liam's notes:

Rice Base Tested @ 2% - SnV. Unsweetened plain cooked rice. 11 Days Slight increase in strength, this is without a doubt an unsweetened cooked, then dried, plain white rice, including the mouth feel of eating plain rice, after vaping you get a lingering taste of rice for a few minutes. 19 Days No change in strength or flavour Usage I'd use at 2%-4% as a primary note for that full rice mouth feel Use 0.5%-2% as an accent flavour. This would work very well in pudding recipes, wherever you need a pudding rice, Cereals at low % for a slight grain like quality, Creams, fruits (think sticky rice) and may be of use in bakeries for that slight grain quality.

Warm Custard Tested @2% - 1 Day Steep Thick creamy dairy custard without Vanilla and a malt like taste in the background 7 Day steep No change 15 Day steep No change. 22 Day Steep No Change. This is a thick vanilla free eggy custard with a thick mouthfeel. There is a slight malt like taste to this, although not as malty as their milkshake base, the malt gives this a darker warmer taste. Without the vanilla this seems a little 'hollow' in the mid notes. Suggested Usage I'd use as a main 3%-5%, Background 1.5%-3%, Accent 0.5%-1.5%. Standalone 5%-10% I'd use with Vanilla, Custards, Bakery, Fruits, Nuts and Creams.
    Big thanks:) Sounds good.

For my candy vapes FW and HS blueberry are all I use. For grape candy FW grape and FE sweet grape work well.
TBH I haven't really gotten into candied type flavorings except for FW Skittles(now renamed ??). I use RF grape the vg version, mainly because when they first opened I got a big bottle. and it happens to be really good. Just a grape flavoring that is not too sweet and taste like the purple grapes you get at the store. Had to use 15% tho because of the vg and it takes forever to completely steep altho, I did start using it a couple of weeks in. At first, it was a very light tasting almost floral type of grape taste and completely clear(still is even fully steeped) and really good. I vaped it as it aged and it just kept getting better. Today, I still have a tank I use for it at the ready, when I want a variety of flavors in my daily rotation.

I'll try that one out, thanks. I like a stand alone grape on occasion, usually Pur white grape is my go to for a single.

I have used all of those ingredients in the past (though not in the last couple of years). It looks like it is wanting to be a blueberry/grape(y) sweet-tart candy. If, that indeed, is what you are aiming for; I might be inclined to make the following tweaks:

7% for TFA Blueberry Wild, and TFA Grape Juice, is not super excessive (though on the upper end)... IF using only one or the other. But, combined, that is looking like it will just steam-roller over anything else added to the mix. I would ramp each of these two back to 4%. If one is too dominating of the other; reduce it further, rather than increase the weaker. Remembering this is a candy with fruit accents vs. fruit with candy accents (if, indeed, that is what you are striving for).

TFA Smooth can have its usefulness; rounding off sharper/harsher edges. It can also be a flavor "flattener" (by which I mean it can make flavors seem more dull/less bright). I'm not real sure of its need here. I would be inclined to leave it out until I felt it was necessary. And then, if I felt it was warranted; I would begin trying it at 0.25-0.50%. (Note: I am most concerned Smooth is going to knock out any "tart" presence of the Sweet and Tart.)

TFA Sweet and Tart: this is where the recipe is getting its "candy" contribution (think the old-school SweetTart/Smarties candies; though a bit anemic on the "tart" part). 3% is a reasonable starting point; but 3.5% might be even more appropriate, if CANDY is what you are looking for.

TFA Sweetener will certainly boost the sweetness of the overall recipe. But, like the TFA Smooth, I personally would leave this out of my initial test (until I knew it was needed). Both can be easily added later; without adding to the required aging. An alternative would be to mix two batches. One with Smooth and Sweetener; and the second without.

So, all said and done; I might start with an adjusted recipe that looks like this:

    4% Blueberry Wild (TFA)
    4% Grape Juice (TFA)
    3.5% Sweet and Tart (TFA)

(I think(?) the key, to getting this recipe right, will be finding the proper balance of these three ingredients.)

Then, after vaping a bit of this initial mix (and felt one, or both, were required), I would consider adding (or include in a second batch; for side-by-side comparison):

    0.25% Smooth (TFA)
    and/or
    0.50% Sweetener (TFA)

Now, for my denial of all responsibility:
This is only how I would go about experimenting with these particular ingredients. Depending on hardware used, and personal taste preferences, you may end up liking something entirely different.:D

I finally got around to mixing sft of my three lemon flavors from chefs and got out one of the four cranberry mixes that have a two week steep on them.

I mixed sfts of VTA Lemonade Clear, Lemonade Solo, and Sour Lemon. Also, FA Lemon Zest. I am just about to give them a 24 to 48 hour lick. :D

I still haven't mixed your cranberry apple. I'm just not dedicated enough I guess.

I think my Cran-Apple is a bit different from the one that @hittman makes but it is one of my favourite vapes! SO good!

I’m still trying to figure out a final mix on the cran apple. The one I’m trying now is ok but not great. I used 4% Fuji instead of 2 and 2 of Fuji and two apples with 1% Pom. That’s ok. I’ve got three more different mixes ready to try. I kinda wanted to get this one locked down before my bcf order arrives but don’t know if it’s going to happen. I did get my polar and armour pro updated today.

I like 2% Fuji and 2% Two Apples, but I also like 4% Fuji. My preference for Fuji is actually Jungle Flavors over FA but there isn't a lot of difference. FA seems to have a bit more peel. A bit of Molin Berry Shape Up Pear adds just the right amount of juice for me. I don't think it needs Pom, but that is me. I am very, very happy with the mix I have now.
