Silly me,, for the life of me I don't know why I waited so long to cut cable and go all streaming. Oh well, I live, I learn!
I just bought an OTA antenna (been using an amplified rabbit ear setup for years). Will try to install it in the attic or outside if that fails. Cut cable a year-ish ago. Internet $$$ is bad enough.

But the funny thing is I got another (as in again) free month of Amazon Prime. I don't think I use it enough by myself to justify the whole year unless I get totally hooked on something only they have. So I binge. I end up with free A.Prime a couple of months per year just due to the holiday orders and/or purchases like this. Maybe I'll bite the bullet some day, but the services are so fragmented, I'm trying to minimize or combo.

Oh, and I mixed up franken-tobacco from 3 different flavors. Steeping. Just as an experiment.

That's for the Kumo RDTA right?

LA as in the very lovely City of Angels or LA as in Louisiana?

~1800 mile difference and all. ;)

Speaking of SM, I finally received my Kumo RTDA. I'm of the opinion that it is just so-so. IMO, it's nothing special or earth shattering flavor wise. Frankly, it's about on par with any of my other RTA's or RDTA's.

The design of how it wicks is novel though. It is about as easy as any RTA or RDTA I own for setup and wicking.

For best flavor the coil needs to be as close to the side AF as possible. I set my coil about 0.75mm from the AF. The coil should also be raised so the AF is hitting the bottom 1/3 of the coil (like any side AF RBA). If you don't do both, quite honestly, you will not get decent flavor.

The coil mounting posts are on the same side. If you have problems coiling your Dvarw's (wrapping the coil legs) the Kumo is "more friendly" that way (no wrapping legs). Be sure to snip your coil legs real close to the posts or they will short when you put the top cap on.

If you are using 26g, or thinner wire, you will need to hold the legs in the center directly under each hex screw while tightening the screw or they will not catch properly. You will see exactly what I mean once you coil your Kumo. I used 26/36 316L clapton wire and needed to hold the legs in the center for a solid connection.

Wicking is a total breeze. Cut tails to the edges of the deck, fluff the crap outta them and set each into its well. Juicing up the wick (like I do with all RBA's) will help to get the juice flowing from the tank section. :)

I tried a middle of the road OTA antenna and wasn't very impressed. I set it up in the living room and by a window (as I was told). Even moved it into different locations in the room. At my Milwaukee home I'm right in the middle of the city close to Lake Michigan. I returned the antenna.

Did further research and I found there are antennas and then there are HQ antennas for OTA. Many folks on the forums prefer setting them up outside and higher up. Much like we all did back in the 60's with roof mounted antennas. Better reception and all.

Seeing as I'm spending much more of my time way up north an OTA antenna is out of the question. There just aren't many channels up this way.

I am very impressed with all that's available on the streaming services. Especially the free ones we've setup so far. Like Tubi, Electric Now, Fubo, Xumo, Crackle, RedBox, LocalNow. Each of those has a ton of movies (new and old) and shows. Also setup Peacock, NBC, CBS Sports and PBS. And setup the regular YouTube app.

What's cool with the PBS app is you can change the city to whichever city broadcast you want. LocalNow is pretty cool cause you can tune into just about any city's local news (ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox) and they also have a bunch of movies and regular TV shows.

Crap, I have way more options now than I ever did with cable!

Good luck with your franken tobacco mix. I hope it works out well for you.

    Somewhere between here and there
    What did you mix?

I used your creamy custard recipe and added premium cookie and inawera raspberry. I wanted to mix something for high output device reviews at 3mg besides my normal LMN#.

I bought VTA Honeycomb a while back and wasn't sure what to expect from it. ELR reviews are literally "all over the place" (look and you'll see what I mean ;)).

I wasn't sure what to mix with it. In the end I decided to play it safe and go with one of my very basic creamy mixes. I let it steep for a month.

Creamy Wafer Base (@Zazie, please and TIA. :))

    VTA Honeycomb 3%
    WF Cream Filling 1.5%
    SSA Madagascar Vanilla 1%

What is VTA Honeycomb? Firstly, I don't taste any honey in it whatsoever. I am familiar with FA Honey so coming from that I can confidently say there is no honey in the VTA Honeycomb flavor.

VTA honeycomb tastes very much like the wafer part of a Voortman's near sugar free wafer or the wafer part of any other similar brand.

    images.jpg

IMO the sweetness is about a 4-5 using my scale of sweetness. 1 being nonexistent sweetness and a 10 being sickly sweet.

VTA Honeycomb is very smooth and there are no off notes. I tested it at 3% and I am confident it could be pushed to 'perhaps' 6% for a main wafer like profile in a mix (depending).

My basic mix tastes like a creamy mild vanilla wafer. Overall it's tasty for a simple 3 flavor test mix. I'm vaping it as I type, lolz. This mix easily could be used as a base, and launch pad, for building your own mix.

WF Cream Filling is just that, a very pleasant and well rounded cream filling. It's nice and creamy and has a pleasant mouthfeel. SSA Madagascar Vanilla is just an awesome vanilla (coming from a vanilla freak). In my mix the Madagascar is there to more fully support the Cream Filling.

Honeycomb could be used to add texture to many mixes as a main or background note in a mix. As a main note, more wafer like. In the background for less wafer, added texture and complexity to support other bakery style mixes.

Honeycomb will work well with fruits, other bakery flavors, creams, custards, chocolates, ice creams, yogurt, nuts, coffee etc. etc.

IMO, it's one of those 'must have' flavors that will work well with nearly any flavor grouping.

VTA Honeycomb would also work very well with, and compliment, WF Crispy Wafer (or SSA Crisp Waffle) for a much more complex tasting wafer profile (as in, how the 2 croissant flavors work ;)).

Honeycomb and Crispy Wafer with a chocolate, like VTA Chocolate Mousse, would give you a basic, but not so sweet, KitKat bar (a couple more flavors and you're right there). I'm planning on doing a version of that next time around. :D

Well, that's all well and good but already having a wafer flavor or two I have no big desire for Honeycomb. It's not a must have for me. I probably have too many base/texture flavors now. I will also have you know that I am not a vanilla freak, I am a cream freak.
