It's big storm day here. Took the wife's car down the shop early for new tires before it started. Now we have major wind and rain plus a tornado warning. Probably leave it until tomorrow to pick the car up.
Sounds like a good plan. Stay safe.

    Somewhere between here and there
When I dropped my car off, I talked with the guy and found out that our area has been zoned as part of the entertainment district so we have to start charging 10.975% tax. That seems crazy to me. I've known the owner at the shop next to us for many years. He said they were short people but would try to get it in today. He said that they would make sure I get it back to drive home one way or the other.

I hope they can get it done for you today. Our area seems to be short on people everywhere judging by all the help wanted signs everywhere.

I have a 14 year old gd that begged her Mom to let her get a job. She has finished her training to be a cashier at Market Basket store and is now a real cashier. She works after school on Thursdays and on Sundays.
She works 5 hours on Sundays which could be an age related thing.

My state doesn't allow 14yo to work unless it's a the family's business. 15yo can get a summer job lifeguarding, otherwise you have to be 16. My dd started as a lifeguard at age 15.

I got my application for a passport done. I had to rush over to the post office to get new photos taken because they rejected the ones I brought. While at the post office, the lady told me that it's taking longer than the 8-11 weeks to get the passport, more like 13 weeks. My brother was supposed to go to Germany for work, but didn't go because his passport wasn't done in time.

Howz about a mix with some chicken, potatoes and veggies?

    or fries:

There ya go, pick your potato, and you'll have a simple 4 flavor mix!!!

It's with a very heavy heart and tears down my cheeks, that I have to post the following...since I'd promised Uncle I would do it when the time came.

His sister called me early last night from Colorado, to let me know that he'd unexpectedly passed away last Thursday, in his apartment in Ft. Lauderdale. Another sister had been with him, so he wasn't alone. His cause of death hasn't been determined yet, but she said it could've possibly been a too high potassium level, or maybe a blood clot from the broken bone and surgery, or something else entirely.

He'd called me last Tuesday night...out of rehab then and back at his apartment. He and his sister had been trying to arrange home health care for him, because doing pretty much anything by himself, was challenging for him. His goal was to hopefully even just get back to how things were before he'd broken his tibia. When he sensed my heightened concern and worry about his situation, he said in his typical sarcastic way..."OH, don't worry...I'm not going anywhere anytime soon" and then laughed. I'd told him I'd still call regularly to check on him, and he said, "Nooo, I'll call you, 'cause I can't always get to the phone or I may be sleeping at irregular times." So, I reluctantly honored his request.

A package was delivered from him Friday, that he'd said he likely wouldn't get mailed until Friday. That was unusual for him, and I wanted to call, but since he'd said not to, I didn't. I'd learned over the years that Uncle meant what he said, and showing what he thought was more concern for him than he deserved...would cause his typical, funny sarcasm to just run amok. :p

I know for certain that ECF and the many friends he made here were an important, loved, and truly enjoyable part of his life. It was funny to me when he'd get miffed and say, "There's only 1 Uncle on ECF", when others who had Uncle as part of their user names were at times mistakenly referred to as just "Uncle". :D

I'm so glad I got to meet and visit with him in person twice and that we became very good friends for the last 3-4 years. He gave it all he had...when dealing with every new health problem that reared its ugly head. I'll definitely miss him and even his frequently posted "Happy Birthday" dirty old man with the candle posts. ;)

For the final time....Just Sayin'...........
Oh, this makes me so sad.
