Simply Cake isn't a very strong cake flavor. It is a good cake but IMHO it needs the help of another cake.

Cool!!!

Looking at the cake photo, IMHO the apple should be tasted more out front. The cake should be tasted as "a cake" but sit behind the apple. Followed by the caramel. Correct me if I am missing something but those are the main flavors, no??? And then the rest. Right???

Maybe try it without FW Salted Caramel??? It's a fairly potent caramel flavor that can get weird over 0.75% - 1% (depending!). I use it in a few of my butterscotch/caramel bases.

Okay, here is how I would make it:

PUR Simply Cake 3%
FW White Cake 1.5%
FLV Apple Filling 1.5%
WF Caramel Butter 1%

or this:

PUR Country Apple 2%
FA Liquid Amber 0.25%
FW Yellow Cake 3%
WF Caramel Butter 1%

I would start with just the four flavors then tweak those until satisfied. Then one-by-one add one of the other flavors at a low percent (makes it easy to add more, if needed!), test and then add another. Wash, rinse, repeat as needed.

Just my thoughts!!!
Thank you, SMT, a couple of different ways to get there!

The only other part would be the White Chocolate Buttercream Frosting.
Might it be better to keep it a simple buttercream instead of WC?
Or just skip that if it's too much going on in the mix?

I could see a good Net tobacco with a touch of black licorice not being bad if you like black licorice. I do. I have the Stixx Haunted mixed and steeping so maybe I’ll try a touch of black licorice in it when it’s ready to use.

I never liked black licorice.

My wife liked one of the HHV NET's. I can't remember which one. It was tasty. Too bad, I'll never know.

Long time ago I tried a couple of the regular tobacco non-NET flavors and those were not to my liking. So I gave up on tobacco juices.

You and Fran have mentioned Stixx NET's several times. I saw in the HHV thread that Bronze just received a large order.

What kind of tobacco is Stixx Haunted?

@FranC do you like and use the same one?

Y'all have me thinking about buying one to try. My ideal tobacco mix would be a nice smooth tobacco flavor with a caramel and a vanilla. I seem to recall something like that in one of PapawBrett's recipes in the NET thread.

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

The haunted was given to me when I ordered a big bottle of Stokkebye from Stixx. It’s my favorite so far. The description on haunted is burley and Virginia mixed with a little perique. I haven’t tried it yet since I like to give nets at least a month to steep.

I got home tonight and the wife had an old 13” tv/vcr combo sitting on the front porch. She said neighborhood yard sales are this weekend and they got two dumpsters. I loaded the tv and went out to the shed and got some old boards I couldn’t get rid of and took it all to the dumpster. It was nice to get rid of that stuff. I still have a lot of miscellaneous boards I need to look through but it’s a start.

    IDK???

It might be good with the combined white chocolate buttercream frosting.
Or it might be better with just the SSA butter cream.
Or, it might be better with only the FW WC.
You won't know until you try them.

I would pick one, try it and go from there. Let your sense of taste guide you.

Sometimes when I am working on a new idea I'll mix up 3-4 10ml of the same. One will be my basic mix (with a base) that I've already tweaked. The others will be the basic mix with one, sometimes two, additional flavors. Then I go from there.

Not all are successful. Each time I learn something new (and make notes). The learning is the most important thing for me.

FWIW, my favorite frosting flavor is FLV Frosting. They did a awesome job with that one. It's not overly sweet, just the right amount IMO. I've never used it over 1%. Tastes like real cake frosting to me.

Recently I tried CAP Frosting (one of their newer flavors) in a very basic cake mix and - - - WOW - - - it was way too sweet for me. Just yuck!!! I gave it away.

    Enjoy. I like Perique also.

I am enjoying reading the different descriptions.

Stixx Mixx NET's descriptions all read like they might be tasty.

Guessing most of these are supposed to be like cigar or pipe tobacco flavors???
LOL, I never smoked cigars or pipe tobacco.

Thinking I will contact them, tell them my basic idea (vanilla + caramel) and see what they recommend based on their experience.

    Sounds like a plan!
