Goodnight Fran. I’m late checking in. I just kinda crashed after work and zoned out in front of the tv. I’m hoping for a half day tomorrow. This week has exhausted me. The wife already has a list of things to get done before everyone comes for Xmas Monday.
Sounds like your wife is going to exhaust you next but you do have a couple days to get your list done.

Oh no your poor sister! Where does she live that she still doesn’t have power. I consider myself very lucky to live in a town that produces their own electricity and has their own electricity department. The power rarely goes out and the very few times it did the town dpw has it up and on in just a couple of hours.

Also thanks for the reassurance of those flavors. I spent A LOT of money buying them as you know all too well I’m sure.

Btw how are you? You doing ok? It’s always good to hear from you!
Zazie, her sister and her Mom all live in Maine.

Well it seems like I’ll just try using them. I normally only make a 10ml sample of ejuice as a tester. I’ll probably find out then if the flavors are still any good. My hope is that they are still fine with maybe just a slight weakening of the flavors which is easy to remedy. I’ll be sure to let everyone know how it goes!
Yes, please do let us know.

Good morning random folks. :) Have you any plans today.
Not much happening here except to rebuild some of my atties. Desperately need changing.

Plus I’ll try to mix up a couple of 10 ml sample juices. I’m hoping to make a lemon meringue recipe. I’ve been buying a Coastal Clouds lemon meringue that is almost an all day vape. It’s always in my rotation but I’d love to mix up something similar instead of buying it. I pulled a few recipes that I found online. If anyone has some suggestions send them along.

    What about you? Any plans?

Oh I didn’t realize she has family up there too. Hopefully the electricity will be on by now. It’s incredibly cold out and I can’t imagine how cold the house is. I hope they left a couple of faucets dripping so no pipes burst.

No plans at the moment. Shortly I'll have to figure out what I want to put in an empty tank.

She has various heaters so is not cold and will keep the water from freezing.

    Bit of vaping nostalgia here.

I was doing some housekeeping on the computer and found an old folder of files from when I first started mixing. I used all TFA flavors then because there was a huge TFA flavor thread on ECF with recipes and suggestions for just about every TFA flavor. There was a file for one session where I mixed 18 recipes. All 10ml. Total of over 30 flavors involved. Including some recipes where I made several versions with different %'s of the same flavourings.

I used syringes for everything. I used to lay out the flavouring bottles in a line or 2 lines at the front of my desk, each with a 1ml syringe next to it. Then I laid out the 15ml mixing bottles on the keyboard shelf. The recipes were in a spreadsheet so I paged through them on the screen.

A mixing session took a long time. First I had to label all the bottles for that session. And locate the flavoring bottles from the cardboard box I kept them in. Finished with the syringe cleaning marathon. Break them up, wash them, blow through the tubes and needles to get rid of water, and lay them out on paper towels to dry overnight.

Didn't do much steeping. I vaped them in Pro Tanks with sticky paper labels. I was quite ruthless about dumping mixes after I tried them. Not many of them were worth vaping. I did keep notes, at least early on.

This was right after I started vaping and I was obsessed. Guess it stopped me from thinking about cigarettes. Kept it up for a long time. Think I learned a lot from doing it and got quite a few good recipes. In the end I had a good feel for what flavors worked for me and what went well with what.

Eventually I started mixing larger amounts and using measuring cylinders. I threw out dozens of small flavouring bottles and the syringes are in a tub in the attic. I keep one 1ml syringe in my mixing kit for situations where I need a very small % of something.

Those were the days I guess.
Thanks for sharing those memories! They brought back my own similar somewhat obsessive memories. That’s when vaping became I hobby for me. I also started mixing within two months of starting to vape. Now I’m getting a good chuckle when I think about how I was so serious and had to set everything up perfectly in the kitchen. I have a photo of my early mixing days. I’ll have to track it down. I had a darn laboratory going on in my kitchen lol! Must’ve been the medical person in me!
