Hi Stacey :)

Not sure I follow you. You said you've been making your own juices, then say you don't know how to use the new flavors?

I'm konfuzed!!! Help me understand, please.

How so?

If you mixed the VG/PG, nicotine and flavors per the recipe - - - how long did you steep it for? Looking at the recipe, and knowing the flavors, I can tell you it will need a good 4 weeks steep time for all the flavors to become miscible. Nearly all custards require a long steep.

Like @FranC said, 15% CAP Vanilla Custard is very very high. If I were mixing that recipe, I would lower it to between 3% - 4% (to start).

Also, EM (cotton candy) is not a sweetener per se. At 2%, per the recipe, it will mute flavors, you do not want that.

Notes on EM (Ethyl Maltol) from ELR:

"EM is also known as Cotton Candy. Often referred to as a sweetener, though it really isn't. At low percentages, around 0.5-1% it adds body, moisture, and reduces sharp notes. It rounds off the flavors, and brings them out a bit. In other words, it reduces flavor intensity. 1.5-2.5% it significantly reduces flavor intensity. After vaping liquids with very high EM-content, many experience a distinct loss of flavor in anything else you vape, for an hour or more."

I have never used EM over 0.5%. When I have used EM (cotton candy), it was only used to reduce sharp flavor notes.

revised recipe:

TPA/TFA Cotton Candy (10% EM) 0.5%
TPA/TFA Dulce de Leche 2%
TPA/TFA French Vanilla Deluxe 2%
CAP Vanilla Custard v1 --- 3% - 4%

Steep time: 4 weeks

IMHO, that would give you a nice starting point. If not enough custard, increase it in 1% to 1.5% increments until satisfied.

If you are looking to actually sweeten the mix, then consider skipping the EM and go with CAP Super Sweet. CAP SS is the most widely used sweetener in DIY. In the revised recipe 0.5% CAP SS will do the trick. It will also help to pull the flavors together in the mix.

ETA: And a question? What are you vaping this mix in? A pod, tank or RTA?
ok, let me be clear, I have been making the same recipe for about 12 years, I mix red hot cinnamon, vg, pg and my Nic, I know the calculations by heart, I make 3 ounces each batch, I tried some various flavors when ecigs first came out but didn’t like any of the other flavors at the time, they taste a lot better now that people have gotten better at mixing them, all I wanted to know was what is the ratio for using the concentrated flavors compared to the regular flavors

@slr817 on ELR there are 3 pages of Grants Custard recipes. I looked at several, most are not using CAP Vanilla Custard at 15%.

There is someone named Grant on ELR who posted this Custard recipe. He has several other recipes. Is he the "Grant" all others cloned? IDK.

Yes, supposedly he had this awesome vanilla custard juice but now he is sold out or the fda shut him down, not sure which but any good vanilla custard recipe would work, if I don’t use Ethyl Maltol what do I sweeten it with…. Sucralose?

    Somewhere between here and there

When you mixed the red hot cinnamon recipe, what did you use to measure the flavors? I started by using syringes but it was a pain to me so I bought a scale. It sounds like you need to use an eliquid calculator to find the amounts of each flavor to use. You will need to use something to measure each flavor added as well as vg, pg, and nic.

    Morning, mixers.

    More sun, more yardwork :)

That will vary depending on the flavor maker. Some are more concentrated than others, yes, but not knowing what brand, no way to make suggestions.

I have found a few recipes that piqued my interest. They call for ethyl maltol, which I don't have. Are there any subs, can I just leave it out, or order some?
Do you have TPA Cotton Candy? That is just EM and PG. Here are TPA flavors with some amount of EM in them,

I don't have cotton candy either, I've thought about trying marshmallow as a sub. I'm not into really sweet juice.
If you don't like sweet juice then just leave the em out and don't try to sub. I don't like sweet juice either.
