@WhiteHighlights @FranC thanks for the response.

The majority of the recipes used were highly rated ones off e-liquid-recipes DOT com, one from DIY or Die and one from the store in which I shop for my DIY stuff! All are strawberry or lemon type desert recipes that range between 7% to 20% flavoring. The reason behind Strawberry was because I first purchased a DIY kit based on Strawberry Cream. Lemon is cause it is my most preferred commercial flavour (ATM). Not sure why we can’t link e-recipes DOT com, would make life much easier but here is one from DIY or Die

    70%VG 6mg.
    Capella- Lemon Meringue Pie 5%
Flavour Apprentice - Key Lime 1.5%
    Capella Sugar - Cookie 2.5%
    Flavour Art - Meringue 0.5%
    Flavour Art - Sweetener 0.5%

The recommended steep was 3 days. At 10 days I felt everything was muted but the most prominent flavour was the key lime. It had a peppery aftertaste. At 20 days, lost the lime flavour and no pepper aftertaste. Everything muted and just a dry vape.

Mostly enjoy desert type commercial flavours although I haven’t had much luck finding creams and custards that I like. My 2 current are DL Lemon Tart and a Japanese Lemon Cake. I switched to DIY cause I tend to get board of juices very quickly and thought this would be a more economical way to explore different flavours and perhaps broaden my pallet in the process.

I’m not as experienced as some others here but I do know that most lemon flavors fade and by the sound of what happened to you, evidently lime does too. If you want to taste the lemon then I’d add some FE lemon. At the amount you used, I wouldn’t think that the sweetener would have muted the flavor. I haven’t used the cap LMP or the Tfa key lime. Maybe there are better brands that would work for you. There’s a really good lemon meringue pie recipe going around on this thread if you’re interested.

I diy 99% of the time the one exception is Dinner Lady Lemon Tart. I buy it when it’s on sale & I really enjoy it. @wildgypsy at VU came up with the following recipe. Though it’s not quite the DL but is very good nonetheless.

Hopefully everyone can help you pinpoint your issues.

@FranC – Don’t have to use such high VG and have used as low as 60% but the results were the same. I choose 70(ish)% cause that is the average of what my commercial juice is. I am open to a 50/50 mix and will give that a shot.

This one is called Cupcake Porn from ELR. Steep was recommended at 1 day, at 3 days everything was muted, same at 2 weeks.

    70%VG 3mg
Flavor Aprentice - Cheesecake Graham Crust 4%
Flavor Aprentice - Graham Cracker Clear 2%
    Flavor Aprentice - Strawberry 8%
Flavor Aprentice - Vanilla Swirl 2%

I am familiar with this recipe and I can honestly say I found it to be pretty crappy and never made it again. Some people love CAP Lemon Meringue Pie but I'm not one of them. I can't stand it higher than 3% in a recipe or all I can taste is an off chemical taste.

DIY takes time and patience. Sometimes flavors will be great for one person and not so great for another. The important thing is to keep trying. If you're shopping at The Broke Vaper you might try a few one-shots that look good that way you'll still have something good to vape while your travelling down the old learning curve. :)

@hittman – I’ve tried about 4 or 5 different Lemon desert recipes and own about 4 different lemon flavours from various makers. All the recipes turned out the same.

@Heartsdelight – that recipe is on my TRY list. Still missing some of the ingredients

Do have some different flavours on the way, so will be mixing a RY4 rendition and a Five Pawns Queenside clone (orange cream)

Just take this recipe and do a sft (Single flavor test) of all 4 flavors. You may have a flavor ( and brand) that's causing the muting. The only way to tell is test each of your flavors single.

@ceeceeisme – thanks for the input. Its not that it tasted bad, it didn’t have a taste at all. And I get the same results with all recipes that I have tried my hand at. Shopping at Dashvapes – find their prices to be more reasonable and their min shipping requirement is a lot lower than Broke Vaper. But will keep the one shots in mind.

@FranC – I have contemplated trying single flavours to see what is more profound and what is not. Guess I will just have to put aside some time to test.

Lots of trial and error leads to success no matter how bumpy the road.:) Most of us still do sft's on our new flavors.

I've never shopped at Dashvapes - I find them too expensive LOL
You have to bear in mind with The Broke Vaper that taxes are included in the prices, so no GST is added at checkout.

Absolute best prices in Canada, can't be beat anywhere is BestGlycol.com in Montreal.
They ship super fast but they do have a limited flavor selection of TPA, Cap and FW.
I buy all my VG and PG from them and I restock large bottles for my favorite above noted brands.

@hittman i found this on Chefs Flavours FB page. To confirm that the CC Devon Cream is the Cupcake World. When they rebottle they use CC.

    Chefs choice = cupcake world
    Flavour creative = fkavourart
    Lauren’s = LorAnn
The rebranded range had some flavors of twisted, not sure about it right now.

Didn’t know about the taxes and Broke Vaper. Thx for the tip. But even taking that into consideration Dashvapes still looks to be cheaper on average for flavours. Plus only $35 at Dash to qualify for free shipping vs $120 at Broke Vaper. The hardware (mods, atties) at Dashvapes can be a little higher than average but if you keep your eye open you can find some excellent deals.

First hearing of BestGlycol.com….quick look and bookmarked! :thumb:

The Broke Vaper also has regular sales too - usually 15% to 20% off. That being said, I don't really shop there as the selection is too limited for me.

FYI, BestGlycol also sells nic but doesn't list it on the site. You need to email them for prices.

To be honest I wouldnt even think about trying this for a couple weeks minimum. 16% isnt horrible and probably in line with a lot of commercial juice. I am curious as to what your mixing method is?

This is one I’ve really been liking that was shared on here. I used FE lemon instead of Sicily.

One other thing that I thought of is I think commercial juices use high flavor percentages. When I first started diy, I was mixing in the 20-25 percent flavor range. Maybe that’s why your mixes seem bland. Also, I usually steep anything with cheesecake in it for a month.

How does this compare to NickZ LMP and which do you prefer? For as much DL I vaped prior to DIY, for myself I do not need the real deal — just needs to be a good LMP.

They’re both really good. Hard to describe but I have both in my rotation. They’re slightly different. The one from wildgypsy needs a week steep. Nicks I like after a day or 2.
