If the vapable type of Rhubarb tastes the same as the real kind, it will probably be a hard pass haha. My mom is a rhubarb fan, she's baked and cooked with it since before I was born, and it's never agreed with me.
You mean rhubarb off the stock? No It is no where near that sour. Give a try to a small bottle. INW Rhubarb or WF Sweet and Sour Rhubarb.

I'm the same way with sweet. I would suggest Rhubarb to you.Tasty and not too sweet. There are others but you might want to try one at a time?
WF Saskatoon berries is a very nice fruity taste with low sweetness.

I might check out some of the already blended mixes, but I'm pretty particular about what I like .. like I cant vape sweet, it does not agree with me ... a super tiny amount of sweetness is fine, but some of the liquids I've tried are like shoving a bowl of sugar in your mouth

Do any of the CA vendors carry the Wonder Flavours flavorings? If they do, you might like their Hazelnut & Cream flavoring. I decided to try it after reading lots of positive comments about it here, from people who used it as a single flavoring in a mix. Bought a 30mL bottle to start with, because of all the comments about how good it was. Using just 6% of it, to me, it has a nice, smooth, fairly subtle taste. IMO, I wouldn't say it's "sweet". IIRC, @FranC likes it, too, and you know she definitely doesn't DO "sweet". :)

I liked it so well that I then bought a 4oz. bottle. Shared some with a couple DIY friends, and made some eliquid for others who don't DIY. A few months later, I bought a 16oz. size for the longhaul. I rarely do that flavorings...but it was much more cost efficient to bite the bullet and do it, since I like it so much and so do the people I've made eliquid for with it.

It might be worth checking it out, if it's available up there. If you were in the US, I'd gladly just send you a small bottle of it and some of a few "one shot" type flavorings I have in quantity, that also aren't what I'd consider to be "sweet".

This one? Hazelnuts and Cream by Wonder Flavours

That vendor is in BC, so only one province over from me.

I'm sure you will get your order before I do cause they shipped the same day.

I’m expecting something tomorrow according to USPS Informed Delivery. It’s probably the Chefs order since I don’t think I’ve ordered anything else that would be arriving this week.

Does your mail come through the Boston hub then north to NH?

I decided to increase the amount of Citric Acid in the Fizzy Lemon Sherbet from what I had been using.

It was suggested to use 1 drop per 10mls to reduce lemon fade which has been working. I ended up using 2 drops per 15ml to see if there’s any noticeable increase in length of time before flavor fade.

I’m vaping a lemon custard that I made in mid January which has the 1 drop per 10ml citric acid and there’s been very little fade. Usually by now I’m adding more lemon concentrate to the mix.

    Is anyone else using it?

Do you make your own citric acid solution with distilled water? If so, what proportions do you use? I've got a sack of citric acid in crystalline form (it's great for cleaning toilets), and it would be nifty if I could put some of it in service for DIY'ing.

In a related matter, I can barely taste lemon in Dinner Lady Lemon Tart, of which I have 100mls plus to finish up. I'm thinking of doctoring it with one or more of the lemons I have (CAP Juicy Lemon, CAP Lemon Meringue Pie, FE Lemon, FA Lemon Sicily, INW Lemon Mix, OOO Lemon Round Candy, VT Lemon Meringue Tart, VT Sour Lemon) to make it pop more. Any suggestions on which to use and whether citric acid might help?

That was me. I'll keep that in mind the next time I make an order - do you have any suggestions for what type of apple or pear? I think the last time I searched for apple, there was like 20 different kinds lol :/

FA, or JF, or VTA Fuji Apple - I have done sfts of all three brands and you won't find much difference. I like VTA the best but that may be all in my head. VTA Granny Smith is the best green apple. Inawera Two Apples is very good too. Any of the three, or a combo of two at low percentages, would work. Molinberry Shape Up Pear is the best, IMO but FA Pear is also good.

I mix Citric Acid with PG at 10%.

Which recipe for DLLT did you use? I ask because that liquid tastes lemony to me but there is a lot of bakery in it which takes away from the lemon (for me) and you might have gotten some lemon fade. FE Lemon is probably the most versatile for the purposes of doctoring up.

@IDJoel gave these pointers in another thread:
After reading all this, I promptly bought some wound wash and copied-and-pasted the advice into my notes.
Thank you, I've got them saved now.
I found, for me, the best way to learn how to understand what (if anything) an enhancer/adjunct/additive (saline, citric acid, acetyl pyrazine, sweetener, etc.) might do for a mix... is to do side-by-side testing. Mix up a small batch of a recipe that I think it might help, and divide it in two. I use the additive in one half, and leave the other half without it. Then, as both age, I can do taste-test vaping, and judge how they develop. Does the enhancer help, hurt, or make no difference?

My personal experiences have shown me, that once in a while, it helps. More often, it does little, to nothing. And, occasionally, it is a mistake. Keep the testers small to avoid wasting ingredients (one doesn't need tankfuls for each and every test ;)). :)

Enhancers have their place, but they are far from cure-alls. :thumb:

Make sure it is suitable for vaping (no fillers, preservatives, or anti-caking agents). "100% Pure," and/or USP, are good labeling to see.

I find that citric acid is hard to dissolve. Alcohol (PGA), DW, or PG will work; but it takes time. I don't usually mix with DW, and I try to avoid PGA (I don't like the harsh addition; and I hate adding the need to let it breathe), so I tend to use PG. I measure 10% citric acid, to 90% PG, by weight (1mg CA + 9mg PG).

Two things I have found helpful to make the process a little easier:
Make sure the CA crystals are as fine as possible. The CA I bought is on the course side of things. The first time I tried making a solution; it took more than a week to fully dissolve. (Even for toilet cleaning; the larger crystals don't like to dissolve, especially in cold water). I found putting a small amount of crystals (a bit more than what I will need for the recipe) into a zip-lock baggy, and crushing them with a rolling pin (I don't "hammer"; it punctures the baggy. Instead, I roll the baggy, like I am rolling out pie dough... with serious anger issues.), until it is a very fine powder (somewhere between regular table sugar, and powdered sugar... the finer, the better).

The other thing that helps; is heat. I will make my solution. Then, heat a coffee cup of water in the microwave (hotter than hot tap water; but less than boiling), and place it on my coffee cup warmer (a little hotplate for cups; though I imagine an essential oil warmer might work too). Place the closed solution bottle into the hot water. Mine is about 30 years old, and has probably seen better days; so I cover it, with a little foil tent, to help retain heat. Even with this, it still takes 6-8 hours (shaking whenever I walk past), to fully dissolve. I leave it on the heat, until the visible crystals are gone, and the solution is clear.

I have never tried it; but I imagine DW, or PGA, would work as well... and likely even better (better solvents?). It is just a matter of what you do/don't want to add to your recipes. :D

Still no chefs order today. Order number one shipped on the 25th. I’m probably only going to order from them when it’s something I can’t get here or maybe a restock item.
No order here yet,Hitt. Mine shipped the 25th also. Should arrive soon I would think.

@FranC comment about WF Butter Pecan Pie losing its sweetness after a two week steep jogged by memory about WF Flapper Pie used in Nick’s LMP that I could not taste. I did not dump it and tried it again in the hopes that i could taste it. I think I may have commented something about maybe the sweetener used would magically disappear. After a couple of weeks I was able to taste it although I don’t know if it was a good taste or a so-so taste. I plan to mix it again and let it steep to see if this was magic or not.

Does anyone know if WF uses Sugar Daddy in their concentrates?

They don't use Sugar Daddy but they do use straight up sucralose in some of their formulations.
