I am dumber than a bag of bobble-heads when it comes to this flavor subject … I usually mix about 10% … maybe I will take your advice and mix it higher..... Another strange thing I noticed is that there is no sweetness to many of the flavors.... For example, I ordered some TFA "Brown Sugar" and I was expecting it to be sweet...WRONG … Sure, it tasted like brown sugar but without any sweetness …. It's the same way with most of the flavors. Is that weird or what?

Maybe go to about 15% and give it a whirl.

We all taste things differently, both in relation to actual flavor and also to apparent strength of the flavor. Some are "super tasters" and just a faint whiff may be, to them, overwhelming.

Bear in mind that the flavor description / name is what it seems to be to the ones who made it. May not taste like the name to anyone else ;)

And some makers' offerings are a lot more concentrated than others. For example, if the same basic flavor, brand x may be great at 1%, while brand y may need 10%.

Makes for a lot of fun...

True. Never know what new stuffs you will like........or not.

I just quickly whipped up a small 4ML test batch and I increased the % to 20... I used 15% flavor and 5% sweetener.... It does seem better and so I will just keep experimenting ;)

Sounds like a plan to me:) Although I can't even imagine using 5% sweetener:lol:

I bought a 30ml bottle of em 7+ years ago and it still looks full.

yeah I have no clue what people are using as a % … I just mixed something together fast so that I could try the stronger % of flavor.... It helped with the banana flavor and so I will try it with some strawberry later on today.

You should. Everybody's taste buds are different.

I'd knock the sweetener down a bunch, maybe start at 1 or 2 %. Easy enough to add more if it doesn't hit the right spot for you.

I'm moving to Erithritol as my sweetener. Seems to add the right "sweet" note for my tastes, and gunks less.

what should I use for sweetener?
I prefer to mix without sweeteners to begin with. I get the rest of the flavor profile the way I want it, and then add a sweetener as needed.

I find this does two things for me. First, it helps to prevent from over sweetening. Second, it provides me a baseline for the flavor profile, so I am better aware of how and if the chosen sweetener influences (masks, mutes, or otherwise alter) the mix.

On a side note; I do not consider EM a sweetener. It is more of a flavor smoother. By that, I mean; it helps to reduce/smooth out some of the harsher "sharp" notes. It can provide a nominal amount of sweetness at higher percentages (it is the primary, sometimes sole flavor ingredient, in most Cotton Candy concentrates). But, those same higher percentages start masking and dulling most other ingredients.

CAP Supper Sweet (sucralose), Rick's Sugar Daddy (blend), Stevia, and Erythritol are all better choices for sweetening, in my mind.
    :)

Sorry for the dumb question, but what is EM? I find my flavors quite muted and almost all of them lacking in sweetness.... So, I just purchased some sweetener from TFA in the hopes that will help... I have always just mixed a single flavor at a time but recently have dabbled in mixing flavors.... The only flavor that is quite noticeable to me is cinnamon as it's strong for some reason, but it is hard on my tanks.

TFA Sweetener is Sucralose 5%, Maltol 5%, and Water. FW Sweetener and FLV Sweetness are 10% Sucralose. CAP Super Sweet is Sucralose 10%, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, and Water. Someone already listed the ingredients in Sugar Daddy which does contain at least some EM. If ethyl maltol is your problem, TFA Sweetener will make it worse, esp. if your flavors already contain EM.

VG, the main component of most mixes, is sweet on its own. It's even used in the food industry as a sweetener. Try a drop on your tongue if you haven't before. For this reason, juice tends to be inherently sweet. Many concentrates are already sweet, so sweetener might be overkill in those. If you need sweetener, find one that tastes good to you and use it at .25 to 1%. If it needs more, add a bit more, but do it carefully. JMHO.

    Anyone using WF Coconut Custard?
I made a 5% sft of it and it's a little light on the coconut flavor after 1 week, I get the custard part... Wondering if steeping longer will bring out coconut.

I have not. Even though coconut is a favorite for me, I would not be able to taste it because it is one of their SC flavors. I have tried only two of their non-SC flavors — Peach Pie & Cream and Ruyan Custard. Both flavors at 5% in a mix was weak.

As I was walking out the door this morning to leave for Alabama, the postman came with my BCF order , a day early. Cruel, cruel, cruel :(:(. Opened it, and the granola top had cracked. Only leaked a little out in its sealed baggie.... it should be okay to use, no? Of course, it was the “expensive” flavor
