One of the reasons migrating over to DIY was I had a problem with a lot of commercial juices, especially those with vanilla, creams and custards, tasting very bitter and even peppery in some cases. I have a sizable surplus of tasty sounding e-
juice that I just cannot vape! Obviously not knowing what goes into a commercial mix I was unable to put my finger on it as to the root of my problem. Some of the juices I tried were extremely popular with no mention of bitter or pepper within user
reviews. Even brought this up with a local mixer on one of their most popular juices where they made a fresh batch while I waited and the result was the same bitter, peppery gross taste. I keep going back to that
juice hoping time will rectify with no luck.
Since trying my hand at DIY I have discovered the same – DaMomma’s RY4 Delight as an example contains 2 different creams and a Vanilla Custard. My sample has been steeping for 3 weeks and it has an extremally bitter taste. I have my doubts this will go away with any prolonged steeping. And this is not the only recipe that includes creams, custards that I have experienced bitterness/peppery with.
Yesterday I found a video that somewhat goes into detail as to the reasons why. 2 of the obvious reasons are too much flavouring and steep time. Logical explanations but I am following the recipes to a T, and with the more popular recipes, such as the DY4 Delight, you would assume someone would comment on a bitter taste should flavouring be an issue.
Another possibility that was mentioned in that video was that someone could be a supertaster. I have heard this term but never put much thought or research into it. But Wiki does describe it as an increased sensitivities to bitter tastes and does list a couple of foods that I just cannot consume. I always wrote that off as just not liking the food! I am not willing just yet to accept that I may be a so called supertaster, but curious if anyone has experienced the same or similar with creams and custards?
