Waiting, impatiently, on nic base, VG, and flavoring!

@barkfunklerbunk I recommend reading through some of this thread while you wait for your supplies. Lots of info and recipes to be found.
Thanks for the welcome, and I will definitely have some reading to do! I picked a recipe to start off with(mothers milk), and some I can mess about with, with the flavorings I bought so far.

It seems like HIC always has weak flavor profiles. Do you use these %'s or did you change them?

HIC had a note somewhere I added to my file about upping it to .75% each if needed. I've gone as high as 1% when I had a bad mixing day, goofed and overshot a flavor so I just upped the others to offset. Each time it was good so this seems to be forgiving and you can adjust it to your preferred balance.

There was also mention of adding a drop of peppermint per 6ml to it but I never tried that.

I tend to be a light weight on flavors too.

Does anyone write out recipes in a small notebook? I plan on making both paper and digital copies. Although, I just got a new SSD, my laptop boots up and everything loaded in about 10 seconds now
not a bad idea to have stuff on paper like the good ol days though

hehehe my laptop has 1TB hd and I have an external hard drive that is also 1tb, so space isn't a big issue for me :p
I tend to lose notes...rather my kids tend to lose them for me...or spill things or yadda yadda yadda
plus i'm very bad about keeping track while i'm mixing...so now i plan it out ahead on the calculator before i even start mixing, this way if it turns out good i can make it again, if not then I can easily tweak it and write in the note section of what was wrong or what is needed next time and keep a quick and easy progress of what i tried that didn't work so i don't do it again

Took a quick look at that calc you linked, looks very promising.. and saves all your recipes!

The bonus of a SSD rather than HD (mechanical) is the lightning fast read/write speed. HDs nowadays are probably pretty fast though.. the one I replaced was 10 years old ! Used to take 5 minutes or more to boot my laptop, who has that kind of time?

+1 on the recommendation to find/use a calculator. I tried a few when I first started diy a few years ago and chose the same one shadav did - I love it and keep growing into it's features and functionality. I just converted mine to a portable installation because I'm playing between multiple machines. I'd be lost without it. Others save their inventory and recipes on ELR, there are many options out there. Take a little time and play and see what you're most comfortable with.

I write mine on index cards and keep them in a file, in addition to having them stored on EcigVape.com. I use one of their eliquid calculators, too. Don't have to download anything, and I can access it and my saved recipes from anyone's computer, smart phone, etc.
