I called a batteries and bulbs store here to try to shop local. When I asked if they had 20700 he asked me what they were for. Instead of saying none of your business, I told him they were for a vaping device. He then said he couldn’t sell them for that purpose. So I bought them online no problems!

Part of that may be "due diligence." If the battery they sell you blows up because it can't handle the current, they can be held responsible.

Not selling because it's for vaping... well, most of the actual makers are clear that their products aren't for vaping, but it may be related to CA regulations. Or may be because they don't carry anything with a high enough CDR for our purposes. Although in that case, I think a "we don't carry anything suitable" would have been the response then.

While individual sources may dry up, lithium batteries are here to stay. (At least until something better is developed.)

All the products used for rebuilding will be ok. Rayon, cotton, resistance wire, PG and VG will survive the FDA. Same with flavorings, although they may not be able to sell them as "for vaping."

Nic, well, hard to say. Mods, tanks, coils may become black market items or seized by Customs, so good to have a healthy supply of those.

At the rate I'm going, I have enough replaceable battery mods for a couple lifetimes, same with RTAs (and repair parts), and 7 liters of 100 mg nic on ice.

I'm thing Ca has a lot of "issues"

Good to see you back Chels:)

I wonder if @ChelsB moved and forgot to change the profile. There is no restriction on selling batteries in CA that I am aware of. My neighborhood vape B&M sells them although I will not buy there now. I do not trust that they may be fakes or of poor quality. They use to sell authentic AW batteries as well as Provari and would never hesitate buying these from them. Good batteries and wish they were still available. Still have the 18650, 18490 and 18350 in perfect condition. Never had to change a wrap due to tears. I still use them even in non-Provari devices and the only downside is I do not get as much mileage. I am told by someone I trust that it is OK to use and if the wraps start to tear, just replace the wraps.

Once I bought at a vape online shop — LG HG2 18650 3000mAh 20A. Everyone of my mods would get warm and I am not vaping at high wattage. I ended up ordering more batteries from one of the trusted battery stores Mooch recommends and quit using what I had. I do not need a battery overheating on me so err on the side of safety and caution.

On the subject of batteries and this time internal, a couple of months ago I bought a mod that has an internal battery and like it so I want to buy a couple more to stash. What is the safe and proper way to store mods with internal batteries? If they battery is not already drained, should I drain it first?

Thank you for remembering Abby, I'm still missing her way too much - but I'm also smiling whenever I remember the crazy things she used to do ;)

I'm glad your mixing session went so well. I also often 'function' on little sleep - the only downside is when I'm sleep-deprived at work with all the free-range chickens - I swear they sing Gangham Style and other songs :w00t:[/QUOTE

I’m still in California. I just thought it interesting that once I bought the product that they hold no responsibility for what I do with it.
Side note, maybe he thought I was a teenager and shouldn’t be using them for vaping? I have no clue

I’m no expert but I believe the battery should be only partially drained before storing. But I’m sure someone will jump in with the correct percentage (IIRC, at about 60%)

Could be especially with the younger people liking to buy mechs and then putting spare batteries without a battery case in their pocket along with their car keys. On top of that they could be using fake batteries. Who knows.

Absolutely. And I’m 60 miles from SF and their crazy vaping rules, which may have an affect. I wish I would’ve just told him it was none of his business what I wanted them for!

This brings me to another thought/question: are brick and mortars just as safe as the online stores recommended here? I don’t recall hearing anyone talk about getting their batteries at a B&M
I’ve seen too many people on here spotting fakes at B&Ms. That’s one thing I don’t take chances on, only buy from Mooch’s vendor list. I don’t trust myself to be able to spot a good fake.

Then perhaps it’s a good thing he didn’t sell them to me. Because I only buy from Mooch’s trusted sources also. At the time my thinking was to support a local business but now I’m glad I didn’t buy them there. However one would think a store specifically selling batteries and bulbs would be safe....
I don’t trust myself to spot a fake either

Why... and how... would they restrict batteries? There are hundreds of other applications aside from vape gear. 18650s alone, are used in things as diverse, as power tool battery pack cells, to flashlights.
Don't let the Doomsdayers get to ya!;)

I don’t mean they would restrict but become hard to find. I had to search several battery vendors to find 12350s and when I found them they only had one brand. These used to be the gold standard for vape mods. So it’s not a matter of being restricted just availability.

I try not to worry but it’s what I do best ;) !!!

Well I just saved myself a “bit” of money by cross checking my Cart at BCF and my flavor stash.

I had 5 FA concentrates in my cart that I already have. Soooo glad I checked!

Any BCF sales news???? They better have a sale I’ve held off checking out for 2 weeks!!!

Funny you should say that. I texted my mom about 2 minutes ago that I had nothing to worry about and asked “what shall I worry about next?”

Always leave mine with a partial charge
