Good morning random folks.:) Just for giggles what’s your quit stinkiest story.

What prompted me to look into ecigs was my hubs heart issues, that and the fact I tried to quit many times over the years. I saw an offer on tv and promptly ordered. It was carts and Attys. That worked better for me than hubs but the cost of the 510 attys was adding up.Then I learned about Greensmoke and we were happy with them til the quality when to hell.I went into the local smoke shop and asked about ecigs and they told me about Vermont Vapor. Came home and found they had a website and got my first egos and cartos What an improvement that was and it eventually led me to ECF. First ecig arrived on June 1st, after hubs triple bypass. When he ended up going back for another stent he finally decided it was time to quit. He wanted to make July 4th 2010 his quit day and he did.

I remember it was early 2009 and my regular brand of cigarettes had gone way up on price so I had switched to a cheaper brand. Over a period of a few months I went from a pack a day to a pack and a half. I was 38 and was really starting to feel the affects of smoking for 23 years. I saw a short story on the local news about Njoy electronic cigarettes and decided to do a little research. I found this forum and ordered two 510 kits and some liquid from Ruyan direct and nhaler. I dual used for a long time. I got tired of constantly charging the little batteries and learned to build a simple box mod. It's been a long and winding road but I'm still going.

Fall of '12. I'd been RYO for several years, so the vaunted cost saving wasn't going to be much of a factor. But I'd been reading about "vape" for a while, and decided that instead of another pound of loose tobacco, I'd give it a shot.

Our area had a whopping two, yes, TWO!! shops at that time, so I went down to the nearer one. Nice, helpful folk. Heck, at that time, they had to be, it wasn't a commodity, and they had to educate the potential users :) Left with a couple of Egos and some CE4s, spare heads, and a couple 30 ml bottles of 18 mg nic in flavors I'd sampled there. (Hey, when it's 45 minutes to a refill, you plan ahead!) The 18 was on their recommendation based on my smoking habit.

That first week was hit and miss. More reading, and at the time, lurkiing here, and the following weekend went back to town and got the same flavors in 24. And haven't smoked since.

A few months later Spinners and Twists replaced the ego, the T3S replaced the CEs, and I actually joined ECF :) Dropped back down to 18 around the same time, and that's still where I mix. (Well, roughly ;) )

Sceptic that I am, I didn't get a real mod until I hit my first vapeversary, at which time I was finally sure it was going to work. That was an Innokin SVD, which is still in the stash, still works with the squishy soft button they were prone to.

I well remember those little 510's. I got a couple when I got the first egos. They got put aside pretty quickly. Went dead too fast. My first regular mod was a Buzz.

I kept making my homemade box mods for a while and sold a few to people on the forum while a lot of people were using the egos. My first big purchase was the Xhaler from Nhaler. It used two tenergy batteries stacked. I was using 32mg menthol back then.

I started some time in 2006, following our Katrina evacuation. Truesmoker (he hasn’t been on in ages) was bringing in the cigalikes from China. If I met him in the Walgreens parking lot (no lie ) it would save me the shipping cost across town. When Johnsons Creek started, I think around 2008??? I gave vaping another serious shot since I could get US liquid. But it was mostly tobacco flavors, yuck. Finally in 2012, I decided to quit the day before I turned 49 with the aim of being stinky free at 50. A Provari and the leakiest vivi nova finally got me free. My last stinky was 3/26/2012. I still can’t believe I did it.

I miss Drew. I remember sending him an email cause of some issue or the other. He called me and walked me through the process. Now that is CS. I could never really get used to the button on the xhaler so I finally sold it.

I didn't think anyone would remember Truesmoker. They were the 2nd ones I bought from, the pretty pink Phoenix.

I had the same one!!! Before that he only had the black with different color lights. It was always a battle to get far enough up in line to get blue or green . I thought my Phoenix was too cool lol. I’ve wondered over the years what became of him. He lived out by me after being flooded out by Katrina.

I stayed in touch with him for awhile. I cannot remember what he said he was going to do. I think he had a really good job offer somewhere.

I still have my xhaler somewhere with the different end caps for 510 and 801. I talked with Drew a few times on the phone. He was a really good guy. To be honest, I don't know if they are still in business or not. I used a lot of their liquids back in the day.

I know his wife tried to keep going after Drew died but don't know if she was able to keep going.

I had been a 2 ppd smoker for about 15 years.. I knew I had to quit at some point, but I just couldn't ever see that happening. I was somewhat healthy, but I know my lungs and heart were in very bad shape. I had known a little bit about vaping.. it was intriguing, but didn't want to/couldn't stop. My first bout with vaping was one use cigalikes, mainly so I could get my nic fix while making 24 hour non-stop cross country trips with my wife. I didnt want to stink up her Honda, and make her sick with smoke. Those were great, but didn't last long and relatively expensive. I had no plans to quit at that point, it was just convenient for me to get my nic fix.

Then my wife had talked with me, really wanted me to quit, and offered to buy me a kit for my birthday. Best birthday present ever. I got the MVP2 and a nautilus. Since it was a 2 hour drive to get it, and not a big window of opportunity to go there, I had already ordered juice from totally wicked so I'd be ready. Picked up a couple bottles at the shop just cuz, and proceeded to be amazed at how awesome vaping was. That was it for me. I was done done done with smokes.. well, kinda. I dual smoked with what I had left, and after they were gone I was done.. except my MVP broke and I had bought a pack to get me through until I could get another mod. I ended up getting a provari, and haven't bought a pack since. That was 2013. I have slipped and had a smoke here and there since then, but only enough to count on just both hands.

My vape experience continued to get better and better as I moved on to rebuildables. And it continues to get better as I finally got serious about DIY back in May, which has made my experience significantly better, and cheaper! But.. with all these damn Solos on sale.. idk:lol:
My health has vastly improved, I have so much more endurance, strength, and stamina. My lungs feel like normal! I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life, and quitting alcohol too has definitely improved that, but that's another story.
