I predominantly use 28g SS430 but I would like to have some 26g for ease of wrapping.

If using kanthal I take two strands of 32g and put them in a drill and twist.

*edit*
Technically I use one long strand folded over a mandrel with the open side attached to the drill chuck, spin it until it wraps so hard it breaks the wire wrapped around the mandrel.
I have always wanted to do the drill thing. I think I need to get a variety pack somewhere. I would also need to research gauges for fancy coils like you are describing. Hopefully, the PMTA doesn't cover wire so I can always get some. I need to go find that app I used to have for winding fancy coils. I like my ohms around 0.2.

    Baby or royal blue?

    Royal blue

What gauge wire does everyone prefer? I think I would like thicker wire than 28 gauge. I know the answer depends on your desired ohms, space in the atty, etc. Just curious what would be a good gauge to have in my stash.

I use 28ga 316 in my siren. I used 316 clapton in my zeus tanks for a long time. I've got different clapton wire, 28,26, and 24 kanthal. I recently bought the superfine clapton wire. I don't know if they still make it but I bought a variety pack that UD made a long time ago. It had five or six different spools of wire in one box that you could feed through the front to use it as a dispenser.

I just build the twisted wire coil like it's regular kanthal, about 6 or 7 wraps around 2.5mm or 3mm mandrel depending on what it's going in.

If you use Android this app is excellent, I use it for coils and DiY:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stasbar.vape_tool

I use the pro version cause I hate ads but the free version is fine.

Morning, mixers, and happy hump day :)

I use 30 AWG kanthal A1. When I was rebuilding antique Kanger heads, I used 32 for those, but that, for me, is ancient history.

I'm a low power tootler, and just don't like the slow ramp up (and cool down) of heavier wire.

Resistance wire won't be going away, although many of our favorite vendors might. So "fancy" coils and / or wire may be hard to run down. But otherwise, shouldn't be hard to run down Temco ;)

Here's the one I bought a long time ago

    UD Youde WireBox

Oops, I just saw it was discontinued. I'll see if I can find it elsewhere

I like to think the Alaskan Indians hate Columbus the least because Alaska already sucks

Have you ever actually been there? Many people have, but usually on a cruise ship that stops at only 3-4 port cities in the Inside Passage part, for 5-7 hours each, in a week's time. Even being there for that short time was enough to cause many people to want to go back for a longer time though.

    For me
, it's my absolutely most favorite place I've ever been. That's comparing it to the states I've been to, the Caribbean Islands, British Columbia, and 12 countries in Europe. Since my first trip up there in 1974, I was "hooked on it". Have gone up there 8 more times since 1996, for about 3 weeks at a time.

I'd live in Alaska from mid May-October and back down here every winter, if I could. Unfortunately, with all the "critters" I have here to care for, and 94 year old Mom living next to me...that's not possible, now. The gorgeous scenery, the abundant and diverse wildlife, the super-clean air, the extremely friendly and down-to-earth people, the types of outdoor activities available, the abundance of seafood, etc. ALL keep drawing me back there. It's truly like no other place I've ever been. :)

Yup yup yup late yesterday. I may have mentioned it but I freely admit yesterday was a Tad Bit Confusing and Terrible for me and all around us.

15 minute from my work, 2 bedroom 2 bathroom and like, is cool with pets and is on ground floor. It's like 875 a month or something but best of all Lady In Charge of the rental said they'd had people buy houses before and they could usually "Figure something out" regarding the rental.

It will fit all our stuff. Going in today to finalize move in date which will be next week sometime.

He took great pleasure in "Firing" the realtor but I don't think he actually did? I would be HAPPY to but also I don't want to be blacklisted by realtors although frankly she sucks so much she is an independent realtor.

Have a feeling we may get the appraisal on OUR house any minute now so like fingers crossed!

    Anna

That sounds great! You really deserve a break.

Yes...it definitely is! I remember reading your other post about her being there...and thinking about the amazing things she'd likely see and the wonderful time she'd have there. :)

I hope it's okay to post this: I signed up for a account at Kanger wholesale just to see if anything is on sale. I did see this and was wondering (old tech) if its any good. Never heard of it.

I have to agree about Alaska. I had family members who vacationed there many times and they loved it. I have always wanted to go.
