Yeah, I do want one. I also want a router, and to make a router table. I really want that one first. Of course I really want a large garage to do all this wood working in too.

I made a router table years ago from a design I found online. Built with expensive high density fiberboard which doesn't warp, the top was 2 layers of 3/4" board. I hardly ever used it, now it's just a ridiculously heavy storage cabinet for router tools. I guess if you do a lot of precision routing it would be worth it.
I worked with a guy once who decided to get into woodwork after his wife bailed out. I had a standard Seers table saw and suggested he got one of those but he wanted the best. He paid $8K for a top of the line German table saw. The people he bought it from sent a tech round in advance to check that his garage floor was level and strong enough for the enormous weight, he thought that was so cool, he dropped by to tell me about it the next day. Then two guys came round and spent most of a day installing and tuning it. The weight meant it didn't vibrate at all, the top was perfectly flat to within 3 microns and it could make cuts accurate to 1/1000" or whatever. He was so proud of it but I don't think he ever did much actual woodwork.
