Morning, mixers, and happy Saturday.

Enough light rain yesterday to not need to water. Looks the same today. :thumb: Although, of course, the first sun break will raise the dandelions a few inches...

When they just don't call back there's not much that can be done.
Even if a landlord prefers to rent to someone else, it is not in their best interests to "ghost" a prospective tenant that is in your granddaughter's situation. If they make a habit of that, they would leave themselves open to lawsuits.

But perhaps it has nothing to do with the kid, and maybe it is just a hard time to be renting in her area.

Houses and apartments here in NH are going like wildfire which I'm sure plays a part. She started looking at houses but nothing is staying on the market. It's crazy. The place she is probably going to rent is somewhat small but cute. The landlord appears to be a nice guy and offered her $100 off the rent because of single Mom.

That was a very nice gesture and a good sign that she might have found a nice place. A good landlord can make a big difference.

Can someone explain this to me so it makes some kind of sense? My GD Meg has a son a little over a year old. The boy has Trisomy 18, has a trach, is fed thru a tube. Meg has been living with friends for years but recently she wants a place of her own. Nobody wants to rent to her because she has a small child? She tells them, (My son doesn't walk, talk or cry). She's looked at a lot of places but no one will call her back. She finally found one single apartment she can rent. It's not ideal but I think she's going to take it.
Hard to say why, if I owned a place I was going to rent I would prefer to rent to people like her, the older I get the more important I feel to help those who are having a hard time from before.

That said, with us there is a very complicated set of rules for both landlord and tenant, especially when it comes to facilitating disability, illness, etc.

I agree 100% . You would think they wouldn't need much room but some oh Dallas's apparatus is pretty large.

    Dallas is adorable, Fran.

Does she tell them about her son's condition? I think I would ask in the beginning if they accept children (without details about her son) and see what they say.

The other option is to go through a rental place like Zillow or a property management that is local. They would best know the way to approach it and I think a landlord would be reluctant to do anything shady re his condition with a large outfit handling it.

That said, sounds like she found a good place to start with. Maybe she just needs a good reference for future rentals that aren't just with friends.

I ordered some stick-on floor protectors for the case I hope to get today. The floor protectors will be here tomorrow.
I have those and they work but I would just put a towel under them, makes it easier to grab the towel and pull them out.

I thought of the towel idea. If I don't like the way the protectors work next idea is the towel.

So when you say protector, are we talking about some sort of plastic lining to put down. Or are you looking for something else?
