A guy I used to work with always said that one is not old until their age is in three digits. I'm going with that :)
Last night on 60 Minutes they did an extended story on the Ritchie Boys. It was excellent. Only other story I saw on them was on the History channel or one of the military channels. They interviewed Guy Stern, 99, and another gentleman who is 100. Neither looked their age.

They showed Guy Stern walking around and working out. He walks faster than some 20 somethings I've seen. Likely in way better shape too. And he still works 6 days a week. Sharper than a tack too.

Guy Stern does not look like any 99 year old I've ever seen. He is full of Life. If I make it that far I would count my lucky stars to be in that kind of shape. :)

My MIL is like that, God bless her. She's in her 80's and can out do me any day of the week. I had always hoped for that kind of health at that age, but apparently it's not in the cards for me! Haha...

Good morning Mixalots :)

I need to rewick some rba's today.

I was gonna go grocery shopping this morning. Decided to put that off until Tuesday. I'm still sleepy, coffee doesn't seem to be strong enough, or it hasn't worked its way to my noggin', yet. The caffeine must be taking the long way to my brain today. I feel like a stain on the pavement. :D But I'll wake up, sometime.

Good Morning Mixers. New Avatar, new lifestyle.
@hittman imagine 26 years and over 3,000,000 of exactly that. I won't miss it too much.
Hundreds of ml's of NET mixed, running out of sweets and bakery. Probably ordering some replacements for old favorites this week.
Light rain last night, more expected this evening, then more on Wednesday. Looks like I picked the right weekend to plant my little hobby garden.
Congrats on your retirement Papaw. Love the pup in your avatar.

Thinking it’s his solo stab in the dark. I’d have a big problem with some of them.
I'm hoping it's an average of recommendations drawn from a variety of reliable sources. It would be great not to have to comb through AtF, ELR, Reddit, etc., every time I feel a need to try something solo.

I made it to work but the motorcycle rider that shot up the on ramp on the highway and cut between me and the truck that was merging on in front of me almost didn't. I consider myself to be a fairly courteous driver and had slowed down a little to let this pick up that was coming up the on ramp get on the highway in front of me. Out of nowhere this guy on this little racing bike jumps in front of me between me and the pick up. Had I not hit my brakes he would have been a stain on the concrete. I constantly hear people say to watch out for motorcycles and I do try but seems like I consistently encounter idiots like the one this morning.
Your day has started badly. Fingers crossed that it improves.

I sometimes think about retirement even though I'm fairly far away. I figure I've got another 15-17 years before I'll seriously think about it. I do think from time to time about a career change as I get older but honestly don't know what I would want to do. I worry that when I retire if I will be able to find enough to keep me busy. Heck maybe I'll get a part time job at Lowes or something just to have something to do.

My father in law is like that too. He's 86 and is active and gets around just fine. Still does his lawn and garden and is constantly on the go. My mother and father were both career smokers and my mom was only 72 when she passed and my dad made it to 80. I plan on making it at least as long as him and hopefully longer. I had an uncle that I never met that came to my mom's funeral that was 94. He used a cane but could still walk. He just looked frail.

my great aunt is in her mid 90ies (i'm not sure exactly how old she is but I know she's over 94, may even be closer to 98) and she's just go go go....one day she's gonna do too much, I swear she's bipolar but won't be tested.....constantly moving her furniture around (by her self)

though these last few years have gotten to her...my grandfather (her baby brother) died back in jan 2019 and her son a few months earlier....so unfortunately that will be what gets her....

I would certainly look to those before going with the 13th. At least those sites offer information from many many well known mixers with a crap ton of real life DIY experience. :)

ETA: besides combing thru them sites is part of the fun, imo

Don't know about that but one that really got my attention was Mascarpone at 2% which I'd never do.

Well, to play a broken record, everyone's tastes are different. A lot of the percentages seemed high to me but may not to someone who's tastebuds are different. I wouldn't go putting that in the blog or anything but if he likes them that high then good for him.

I’ve been mixing around 10 years. When I need a mixing percentage I will ask here first, looking for the opinions of other experienced mixers. If that fails then I will check out Reddit etc. The recommendations from a relatively new mixer are really not helpful to me for obvious reasons.

There should be an asterisk beside it. *Alcohol mutes the taste buds, your taste may vary.

I don't "get" something. So, I'll just say what I'm thinking.

Many people on here regularly post their recipes, with the flavoring % that "work" for them in that recipe. Some people ask others, when they're using a new-to-them flavoring...what % would they recommend starting with, or what % worked for them in an sft if they did one. Others will often say "oh, that would be way too high for me, I'd go with X% instead", or "I'd go higher on the (whatever flavoring)", etc. Everyone is fine with those statements, because we all know personal preferences and tastes vary greatly. There haven't been snide comments, jabs, etc. directed toward the person who originally posted the % they used that worked for them.

Vaper1960 has posted, several times, as he's ordered/gotten new flavorings...that he's doing sfts on each of them, so he'll know what % he'll use for them in his DIY recipes. So the sft % list he posted shows what has worked for him and his tastes.

"Master flavor list (with solo %) done. A lot of work but it's going to be so much easier mixing now."

"Wasn't going to post this but thought it might help someone (keep in mind these are SOLO %)."

It seemed clear, to me anyway, that the list he posted was his own findings, based on the sfts he did, and that it would make mixing, for him, much easier. Maybe it would even help some other people, too.

So, I don't understand, in this case anyway...why some of the posts about it have been made. It's honestly surprised me. :?:
