For the same reason I DIY(save $$$)... I build my own coils in an rda, $20 gets me enough cotton and kanthal to vape for a 6mo to a year. VS. $4 for a coil thats gonna last a week. I get it though. Some people pay for convenience. Just surprised so many DIYers still buy coils.

I do wind my own coils but also buy some already made ones but nothing exotic. Maybe 3-4 dollars for an 8 or 10 pack.

There’s nothing wrong with a little convenience.

That and some of the ones I like would be really hard to make I think. I like the coilology 316 flat braided coils a lot and bought a bunch for my Zeus rta's. That and I'm liking the Ni80 coils from geekvape that come in an 8 pack.

My coil costs average about $5 a week (6 devices in my rotation). At my age convenience beats saving money.

There's a lot to be said for convenience as we get older. I'm not as old as some here on this thread but the older I get the less hassle I want and have started paying to have things done that I used to would have done myself. For example, we're having a new floor put in the master bathroom and on the same day someone is coming to install our new dishwasher. Could I have done it myself? Yes, but really don't want to. That and there was an installation rebate on the dishwasher so I'm basically getting it installed for free.

I'm 75 years old, if it wasn't for drop in coils I doubt that I would be vaping.
I’ll catch up with you on my birthday in November. I would agree on the drop- ins if the postless decks didn’t come out. They’re so stupid easy I don’t mind coiling at all.

I have mostly GTX, GT, Z coils, PNP coils and some Lost Vape UB Pro coils with a box or two of this or that mixed in. I very much like the gti coils used in the new Vaporesso tank. I just have a couple boxes so far but will probably get more. They last a really long time and have good flavor.

    Morning, mixers.

but it was quicker and took refuge in my right ear.

That sounds like a Stephen King horror story.

Calls to mind the earwig episode of Night Gallery. I'm glad you had a happier ending than Laurence Harvey's character did.

I was reminded of one of the Star Trek movies, where Checkov got one installed... Glad it worked out ok!

Which ones are your favorite, David? Do you have one?

Actually, the EHPro KF2L is my favorite of that type. Have a couple V4s (and newer variations as well) - in the stash box. Yeah, WAY over engineered!! I do also use Coppervape Skyline (clones) as well, which add more air flow options and juice flow control. Both build the same, and while wicks don't, coils last many months with just a clean and rewick, so that's not a big issue for this 73 yo :)

Now you lost me again. What are gti coils and what do they fit?

The GTi coils are the new coils released with the Vaporesso iTank. It came in the Target 100 and 200 as well as the Gen 80 and Gen 200 kits. I very much like this tank and my favorite are the mesh .4 ohm coils. I bought two boxes so far and haven't had to replace the original one that came with the Target 100 in over a month. You know I have several mods in rotation so it's not used all day every day but have over 1000 puffs on the counter on one coil and it's still going strong with good flavor.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    Right.

That said, I never took mine apart, so there's that. BTW, I tried to find Phil's and/or Ruby's K4 videos and they are gone from YouTube. They were the best instructional videos for K4. I honestly wouldn't have been be able to get those things working without their help. I wonder why they are gone. Is YouTube taking down vaping videos now? Weird...

That's a bummer. I think the reason the videos were likely taken down is because 3 years ago or so Youtube made a rule that vape videos were not allowed to have links to vape-related sites in the description. Some reviewers went back and removed the links on old videos, some didn't. So Youtube's police bots eventually find these videos and take the video down automatically, and the channel gets a violation ding. Sad part is, if as channel gets 3 violations within X amount of time, your channel gets taken down for good and it takes a lot of effort to get it back, if you can get it back at all.

I'm glad I downloaded certain videos a couple years ago so that I could reference them if I needed to in the future, PBusardo's KF4 video being one of them. Downloading vape videos was part of my stocking up strategy.

Are the GTi coils better than the GTx coils?

I’m rather fond of Innokin for not having a different coil for every tank they make.
