Oh yes they are. The trick is knowing your specialty area. Most of the time people don't know what they have and you can pick things up for dirt cheap.
Do you remember the old Ransburg glassware, pottery and toleware? They made cookie jars, pitchers,
salt and pepper shakers, doughnut jars and other pottery items. Toleware included salt and pepper shakers, breadboxes, sets of tins for flour, sugar etc., wastebaskets, paper towel dispensers, recipe boxes, cake carriers, kleenex dispensers, toilet paper holders etc. etc.
Their pottery and toleware was very popular back in the 50's, 60's and 70's. The glassware was popular in the 30's and 40's.
The designs were hand-painted on each item.
