All that rigamarole at the hospital this morning, including getting up early and driving all the way to Dallas in rush hour traffic, and they go and cancel my mother's surgery. Apparently her kidneys haven't recovered yet from the episode last month (while we were camping at the lake) where she got so dehydrated that her kidneys were beginning to shut down. The anesthetist says she should wait at least another month. So we will have to do this all over again, later.
    Well,that pretty much bites.

I was all ready to start mixing SFTs of my new blackcurrant and meringue flavors and hit a snag. 15ml bottles. I have 8 bottles but only 1 top. A few weeks ago I threw out a load of dropper tops because the rubber bulbs were wearing out and they wouldn't suck juice out of the bottle. I got some replacements but not enough and used them all.

So instead of mixing I have to put in an order for dropper tops, and probably some more bottles.

Meanwhile bad news from the UK. They’re running out of words, especially superlatives.

I just heard two commentators in Scotland talking about the late Q's wonderful inspiring ability to chat with common people over a cup of tea and put them at ease. They took turns praising her over this, then one of them came out with this pearl of wordsmithery.

“It’s like she was an extraordinarily human human, while, yet, transcending us all"

Now I'm scared to turn the TV on.

I've been paying attention as well. Have a couple friends in the UK who have been sharing things with me via FB.

I have come to the very respectful conclusion that...

There are only so many spectacularly glorious words of wonderment and acclaim with which to hail, salute, commend and bestow.

    Morning, mixers.

Temps continue in the mid 70s, still no rain. Maybe this weekend is the current guess, but that guess puts it all north of half the State...

While we did, sadly, set a new record for days of 90 or more, we may not hit 80 again until next year. Now if we just got some rain...

Wasn't a problem here, and Wilson wasn't much of one, either!

Good morning random folks :) Have you any plans today?

My brother said my truck was okay, so I've got to fill my car with oil, which will eventually leak out, and drive it to his place to switch out the vehicles.

Territoo reminded me, I have to call the Dodge dealer. My '04 Ram needs a new fuel pump and brakes done. It'll be expensive but at least they'll do it and do it right - I paid a place $1000 to replace the fuel pump and don't think they even touched it as it had the same problems afterwards. Never again will I go there.

ETA: I called and have an appt for next Wednesday. Fuel pump and brakes and hoo-boy it'll be expensive. They have coupons so I'll try to use those.

    Somewhere between here and there
I don't know what happened but ever since the holiday there has been almost no new work coming in for me. I do have a full day of calibrations to do Friday but have no idea what I'm going to do the next couple of days if nothing comes in. I hate being slow.

I honestly am not super excited about the mystery flavor from BCF. It's definitely a fruit flavor and I feel like sometimes I get a rind taste with it but have no idea what fruit it's supposed to be. It is a little weak and definitely needed 4-5% to test it. I have been so busy with reviews that I haven't really come up with an idea as to what direction to take it with a recipe.

Idea - Since you mention the mystery flavor sometimes presents itself as a citrus "rind" taste . . . How about treating as you would "zesting" a citrus fruit in a recipe. . . Lemon Marrange, Orange Cream, Sherbert, Grapefruit Ice, and/or Blueberry/Peach Crumble, etc.. . . Probably would add a touch of a "sweet-sour" taste depending on how much you use . . . . Just a thought. . . :smokie:

Was reading a thread about the Mystery Flavor elsewhere and they have it narrowed down to WF Pitaya (Fruit)(SC).
