I don't suppose you have the option of staying on your septic system. I'd vote out any local politicians that approved such plans. What if a homeowner doesn't have that kind of money for the electrical work and the grinder installation?
You do have the option and a few people here are doing that. But you can get the installation for $3K now, full price would be $10K to $15K. If the septic failed next year it would be bad news. You would need to get the work approved, and since we are in a flood zone that would be an automatic NO, and then it would be full price to get onto city sewer. Also city sewer adds more to the value of the house than it costs.

As for the politicians, the utility companies and the state pols live in each other's pockets. You could vote them out and just get another bunch of crooks.

Oh, and they do have plans for folks who don't have the cash. 5 year interest free loan added to your monthly bill. Plus there are get-arounds. We have a neighbor who is 80 and on minimum social security with no savings, she is getting it free.

At least you were given an option. If you are going to do it, then nows the time. Septic systems don't tend to fail, but people often fail to maintain them. I guess living in a flood zone may make it more likely to fail. I see the benefits of doing the switchover, but the thought of coming up with 3k is daunting, but better than 15k. Yeah, all politicians are crooks, but sometimes it helps to elect a new bunch of crooks, to remind them all that they are subjected to the will of the people.

Good evening. Mowed again. Plan on taking it easy the rest of the night. I keep thinking about the grape recipe I mixed and hope it’s good. I know FolkArt is a great mixer but don’t know if my tastes will be similar.

If these squirrels don't keep out of the flowers, I may have to add small game to the menu. I tried a relocation program some years back and it was a waste of time. There are always more squirrels to fill the void.
We have a lot of squirrels here too. My wife gets mad when they dig in her flower bed. We used to have a bird feeder in the backyard that we could see from the living room and squirrels would hang off of it to eat the bird food.

I didn't foresee the consequences of the oak tree I planted a few decades ago.

Good morning. I didn’t realize until I got home yesterday that I have what looks like two spider bites on my foot. They itch pretty good and are raised and red around the bite. I started using some steroid cream on them so hopefully that helps and I don’t have to go to see a doctor.

    Fingers crossed.

    Morning, mixers.

Still nice spring days here, but still dry. Did get a lot of whacking done yesterday, so a break today.

Quick trips to the local butcher and fruit stands, then hose detail :)
