I’ve done nothing so far besides drink coffee and watch tv. I started watching this show called Poker Face on peacock. It’s pretty good.
I don't watch TV during the day but last night I watched a show on Peacock. Can't rememeber the name.

    Got a hummer already.
They're an endless source of bafflement to me.

This morning I just watched them for over half an hour outside the kitchen window. There were two of them flying around the feeder. Looked like a dance. They were flying up and down and around in a synchronised way a couple of feet apart, then zooming off and buzzing each other and other stuff like that. Once in a while one of them landed on the feeder and the other one flew at them and drove them off. I was thinking it looked like a mating ritual, then one of them landed on the feeder and the other one swooped down on top of the first one and hovered there for a while. Almost certain they were mating. That happened multiple times.

Then I had to go through to the office and print something off for the wife. I got back to the kitchen and now there are at least three of them doing the synchronised dance around the feeder and buzzing each other.

I don't know much about them. I would have guessed they bred early in the season so the hatchlings would have time to grow up ready for the long fall migration. Why would they be mating this late in the year? If I get a chance I'll do some research on the web.

That had to be so neat to watch. I've gotten several hummer visits but just one at a time. Maybe I can do better next year.

Late night session last night mixing base. A liter of 6mg in five 1/4 liter bottles. That normally lasts us 4 months but only 3 months this time because I was mixing lots of new recipes. Today I can finish mixing the ones that have run out. And maybe some new wicks.

Want to get that out of the way. Tomorrow it's supposed to cool off a bit, 4 days down in the 80's with no rain before it gets hot again. Time to play with my new mower and do a load of overdue weed eating.

Last week someone on the next block had a house fire in their attached garage where they had their laundry set up. That's the second time this year in my immediate neighborhood, both from laundry fires. Both times there wasn't much damage except for the smoke but the first one it was 3 months before they could move back in. All their drywall had to be replaced because of the smoke, probably the same for the latest one. Luckily my dryer is up against an outside wall so there's only a 2 foot piece of duct. Still I check it regularly now.

I love hummers but I gave away my feeders due to the amount of ants attracted. We have major ant problems here.
That hit me earlier this summer. Got an ant moat which stopped them getting to the feeder. Until this year all my feeders dripped which meant giant ant colonies underneath the feeders. This year I got better feeders which don't drip so really no ant problems anymore.

Very glad to hear your daughter is finally better.

I have a door that's mostly glass in my new room and my hummer feeder attaches via suction cups. I haven't had any ants but it did drown a mosquito.

Ants crawled up to get to the juice, whether they dripped or not.

My GD has covid. Her teacher has it so of course, she got it. Mild so far.

I have come to the conclusion that at some time, almost everyone will have it.
It has been in this house twice and I haven't got it as of now.

Probably multiple times, like the flu. It's not seasonal like flu so maybe 2 shots a year. Read last week that it's becoming endemic like the flu. But worldwide infections are becoming less severe due to rising resistance from vaccines and previous infections.

My daughter and Gs's have had covid multiple times. I think I had it once, didn't have a tester at the time. I get vaccines 2x year. Just made appt for booster and the 3 other old people ones. 4 shots in one day, yikes. Hope I survive.

    Gah!
    I had a Mixing Mishap.
More of a Shake Mistake really.

Some of my tester bottles are old commercial ones that I saved. At least one of them has the pipette stuck to the bulb so sometimes I separate them from the cap to clean.

I guess I didn't seat the bulb back into the cap properly and a few seconds into the shake it launched from the cap and there ensued a brief Yostachio shower.

It looks like I lost about a third of that tester.
I had everything put away already so just transferred what remained to another bottle.

The pipette broke so will have to pick up a replacement. (and a few spares!)

    Somewhere between here and there
Still not accomplishing anything today. I did get in a short workout but that’s about it. I’m liking the jelly donut recipe I found on ATF the more I use it. I’m glad now that I went ahead and made 30ml instead of ten like I usually do on new recipes.
