Then I spent 2 years of 70 hour weeks prepping systems for Y2K.
I started prepping for Y2K around the mid 80's. My boss had worked in the life insurance field and they ran into the issues while doing actuarial projections that spanned over 25 years (year 2000). Our first fight was how the new date should be stored, and I alone was on the side of YYYYMMDD, which was finally adopted. They all thanked me later. Closer to the date my wife was government contractor and they found 1 medical machine (defribulators) that would have stopped. I was in a national wireless provider and we found almost nothing.

The day of there was a global call with many industries. It was a 1 hour check-in with any problems found, starting with Australia, and moving through the timezones. IIRC they had a transportation issue, something to do with busses. Everyone else was a 'no issues found'. At the stroke of midnight (GMT) 8pm local for us, our national voicemail died. We reported 'no issues found'. Crazy thoughts and ideas then ensued.

Like you, I spent many years on that bleeding edge.

    Morning, mixers.

Might be some drying for a few days. Yesterday was a nice old-school western WA day, light and steady rain all day long :) Nearly an inch in the last 24 hours.

    Y2K...

We were just wrapping up the first conversion of our 1912 power plant to computer controls, Despite having already determined nothing would be impacted by the date rollover, it was decided to man the plants throughout. So we two electricians got to spend NYE in the powerhouse, one in each. Since all the systems had either been patched or didn't care, a long and uneventful night. Uh, if the hardware doesn't use the date, how could there be a problem if the date goes snarky? But the overtime was nice :)

    Yep, nice rain :)

And also yep, hope it doesn't stay away too long ;) At least we're well out of the baking season, so the plants and ground don't just lose it all to evaporation :)

Yes, cooler temps help also. Our next 2 days will be hot but I think that's the last of it.

You remember when dates were held as year plus binary minutes in the current year? I could actually look at the binary minutes and make a guess at the date within a week or so.

    Good morning everybody
I got a result on my random spreadsheet thingy last night which made me think of you!

It was all TPA, Milk Chocolate/Blood Orange/Western which isn't far off from the Witch Doctor.
I wasn't too sure of that combo so I did a quick google and there are tobaccos and e-liquids with those flavors.

I wrote up an all TPA recipe for it but went with Double Chocolate Clear and Orange Mandarin. (The TPA Blood Orange flavor looks to be discontinued but can still be found in the wild).
It took me a while to think of a name for it (Prairie Fire) and during that process I got another inspiration, Judge Ry Bean - Vanilla Bean Ice Cream/RY4D/Western.
