Another note: SOD doesn't have that waxy choc taste like Cap Double choc has.
Does the V2 have that waxy taste too? I used V2 in my first mix and didn’t notice it. I tasted it then put it away to steep longer.

I'm curious, what was your reasoning for using EM in those?

Did those chocolate testers have "rough edges"/"shape notes" taste-wise?

One of EM's main purposes in life is to smooth out any rough edges that a flavor, or couple of flavors, have in a mix. Usually 0.5% will do the trick.
Up to 1% depending on total flavoring in a mix. It can/will mute flavors (depending).

    EM is not a sweetener.

this from ELR's "Master Mixer's Tips & Tricks" page:

EM is also known as Cotton Candy. Often referred to as a sweetener, though it really isn't. At low percentages, around 0.5-1% it adds body, moisture, and reduces sharp notes. It rounds off the flavors, and brings them out a bit. In other words, it reduces flavor intensity. 1.5-2.5% it significantly reduces flavor intensity. After vaping liquids with very high EM-content, many experience a distinct loss of flavor in anything else you vape, for an hour or more. Around 8-10%, it gives off a distinct burned sugar/cotton candy flavor, but without the sweetness of real cotton candy.

I rarely use EM. I do use it at 0.25% - 0.5% with peach flavors because, for me, peach flavors have a harshness to them (even at low %'s). I've never gone over 0.5%. Never had a reason to.
I'm trying the EM based on what two of the folks in that screenshot that I posted said, that it improved the taste of FW Double Dutch Chocolate.
Not as a sweetener, but an enhancer.

It could be that all it did for those folks was smooth out that flavor and not really improve it.

It seems from my poking around here and there that it was often used in the past, perhaps just to round some edges since many mixes from that period had some flavorings pushed pretty high, at least by current standards.

I guess I'm trying things that I interpret as possibly being done in 2015-ish mixes, which I'm trying to emulate for this mix.
Yourself and many others here were mixing then so would know better than I.

I am still learning and so appreciate your advice and tips!

Eh, If it doesn't work out, then on to the next.

I'm not sure about versions. I know Bronuts uses Cap double and Bronuts has that waxy feel. I like Bronuts but it isn't close to SOD.

I need to organize my flavors and put all the chocolates in one place. Then I can do testers easier than trying to find all these random ones. I lost my organization after the last move and never got it fixed.

I hear you there, I'm still working on my organization!
I have all my flavors entered into my ELR and ATF stashes as well as a spreadsheet. I have my inventory in my spreadsheet as well, at least the size bottles that I've bought.
I just need to index my flavor cases into my spreadsheet but now that I'm pushing 800 flavors I keep putting that off.
    Someday...

Yeah, who knows what the marketing person(s) were thinking when they wrote that.

While not mentioned as a primary flavor, they do mention both "velvety chocolate" and "chocolate glaze".

I suspect the powdered sugar is more than likely one of the CAP, FW or TPA sweeteners. Just a gut feeling.

I'm curious, in one of your tests, have you tried FW Yellow Cake, a chocolate (CAP, FW or TPA) and 1% (or more) sweetener yet?

It would not surprise me if SOD used ~20%, or more, total flavorings.

i dunno, just tossing out some thoughts............

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I wonder what they did to make it taste like doughnut holes rather than doughnuts.

I have been a bit busy since Charali managed to pull some choc chips down and eat them. I thought he would die he was so sick but he survived. So chocolate hasn't been my friend lately.
I'm so glad Charali is going to be okay. You must have been scared to death.

I did a simple mix with 4% yellow cake, 2% cap double chocolate v2, and 1% tfa sweetener. I really couldn’t imagine using enough of those three to come up with 15% flavoring.
Yeah, I'm trying the chocolate testers at 8%. If any of them haven't broken with that amount then I might push the survivors a little higher yet just to see what happens, if needed.

I have a few more flavour selections for Straight Outta Donuts and I'm breakin' out the big guns, Chocolate :w00t:
    Chocolate Frosting(WF)
    Double Chocolate(Clear)(TPA)
Milk Chocolate(FLV)...use sparingly as it's a strong flavour, pair with another chocolate!

Island Mango to taste, I'd recommend lots:lol:

Dreams? I always seem to have really interesting ones. I am getting much better with actively participating in the lucid dreams.

Last night I had a very cool dream. I was riding on a Dragon through space. We landed on a pristine almost Earth-like planet. Cruised around, saw bunches of critters, and some strange looking ones. All were curious but friendly. It felt like they somehow knew me.

The sky was a magnificent mostly different shades of purple with some blue hues. Saw flora the likes of which I have never seen. Everywhere I looked the colors were super vibrant. I could feel the life essence from everything and sensed everything around me could feel mine. That was a way cool experience.

It was fun walking and flying around exploring the place. Felt like we were there for days.

Time passed quickly, then Dragon looked at me and said, “Hop on, it’s time to take you back now. Don’t worry, you’ll be back here soon. It’s our home.”

Then I woke up. Wrote down all I could remember in my dream journal.

Did you have a brownie before bed? I almost never remember dreams. If I do it’s usually some sort of struggle dream.

    No brownie or “other” yesterday.

And this was a rather tame dream compared to many of mine.
