Good to hear all is well, we are doing alright, thank youThanks, all is well here. Hope you and fam are well too!
By "dams", do you mean the juice wells where you tuck the wick tails into?
The length, and thickness, of the wick tails play a role with whatever juice viscosity is being used.
Thicker juices (80VG/20PG, 70VG/30PG) and higher wattages generally require tails that don't touch the bottoms of the juice wells and they need to be thinned out more. I've seen some builds with tails that were very short and seriously thinned out, but they work!
60VG/40PG, 50VG/50PG or 40VG/60PG being thinner. generally, require thicker tails and tails that "just" touch the bottoms of the juice wells.
Too much wick placed in the juice wells will cause problems with more juice being absorbed into the tails. In general, the tails should never be longer than the depth of the wells.
One more thought, have you tried single wire coil builds in Cloudy? Claptons and other exotic coils suck-up more juice (that pools on the coil). A single wire build won't suck-up as much juice, nearly no pooling, versus Clapton's (or other exotic coils) and just "might" make Cloudy less likely to leak (might???). IDK, just thinking out loud!
I use single wire coil builds in most of my RTAs and RDAs. There are a few that I use Clapton's in. Sometimes I use Aliens (and others, just depends!).
Good luck and I hope you are able to get Cloudy squared away!
Saved from an hours work.I made some progress on the landscape project but still have a long way to go. The neighbor behind me was out and we ended up talking about an hour.
Question about seals. What would you be looking for when you check seals? I sometimes check themI’ve only refilled once so far. I have the bottom and top airflows just slightly cracked open. I don’t like a super airy draw. No seeping yet. I do agree that most tanks have different tastes with the same liquid. I used to use rtas exclusively but fell in love with the itanks and coils so have been using those a lot. I do really like the dead rabbit mtl 2 tank a lot and have kept it in rotation since I reviewed it. I’ll let you know if I get any seeping. Like you mentioned, might be a good idea to replace the seals with the spares.
Bet you are tired.Good evening. My electrical is complete and I am a lot poorer. 82 outlets done, a new breaker line, fixed faulty wiring from the garage door opener and other places. Some of the outlets were burned which is scary. One of our neighbors had wiring issues a couple years ago and their house burned down. Same builder so.....
Got 2 new tires on the Fiat, trying to put the house back together after all the furniture was moved for the electrical work. I hope all that is left is getting the AC in the car working. I'm tired.
Glad you had a good evening.Good evening. We took our daughter to this New Mexican restaurant that we hadn’t been to before. It was really good. Now it’s time to relax and call it a day.
This caught my attention. I recently started using a Kayfun 5 and I get juice seeping out of the air holes at the bottom. Is that one of the "modern Kayfun's" you referenced? I'm only on my first coil and third wick and getting frustrated with the seepage. There are a couple of adjustments you can make to the K5 and I've been playing with them with no success.I don't have a Hellvape Fat Rabbit Solo.
Perhaps (maybe???) the reason you are getting leakage/seeping is because the shoulders of your wick, where they come out of the coil, are resting on the deck where the airflow is under the coil.

And maybe, drawing excess juice to the path of least resistance, the airflow sitting under the coil???
My Atmizoo Tripod RTA has a "similar" build deck. And it's deck is very much like all the newer Kayfun RTA's.
What most of us with Kayfun's learned is to move the wick shoulders away from the airflow. And that's also what I do with my Tripod.
Like so.............. Tripod deck.......

I use a sewing needle to move the wick away from the center block where the AF is. Moving the wick shoulders away from the center AF block I don't get any seeping/leakage with my Tripod or modern Kayfun's.
And I also have my coil about 2mm above the AF. Your second photo looks to be ~2mm above also???
Maybe try moving your wick shoulders away from the center AF block and see if that helps???
Just a thought.![]()
Yes, for tears and edges but I try to compare them to new ones to see if they are flattened or stretched.Question about seals. What would you be looking for when you check seals? I sometimes check them
but all I'm really looking for is tears or broken edges. Are there any other signs worthy of attention?.
For some reason I changed from cotton to rayon a few years ago. Maybe I should give cotton another try. I have an ancient bag of Cotton Bacon sitting around. Does cotton have an expiry date?I tried rayon a couple times but didn’t care for it. The cotton you suggested is definitely superior but I already had a bunch of the COTN threads. Also, I’m a bit lazy and the threads make life easy.
I sure hope not. I have a big bag of koh gen cotton pads in my basement stash. For some reason I changed from cotton to rayon a few years ago. Maybe I should give cotton another try. I have an ancient bag of Cotton Bacon sitting around. Does cotton have an expiry date?

Does cotton have an expiry date?
Cotton does expire. I had a pair of Levi's jeans that I loved and 4 days after the expiration date, they disintegrated. It wouldn't have been so bad at home but I was at work on casual Fridays giving a presentation on Sexual Harassment and I was going commando at the time. The VP made me sit through my own class as punishment.
