Would it be fine for me to continue using the battery considering the wrap looks fine and I don't spot any outer damage? I'm not able to buy a new battery right now.
If I use it and there are no issues with it like it getting unusually hot, no more grime at the threads etc... Am I safe to assume I'm in the clear and this was a one off thing unrelated to the battery? It's only been in use for 6 months or so.

It's a bit difficult for us to say, inspecting and judging the condition of a battery is objective to each individual.
I myself discard if I see any impact damage.
Sometimes when I rewrap a battery I have seen that they make battery sweat in their lifetime.
Mooch who is on this forum tests batteries, he is the one you should really ask for advice. He knows more about batteries than all of us combined.
Well I got my load of laundry done, got my order from WalMart and cooked some chicken I need for tonight's dinner. The chicken goes in a casserole dish with other stuff
