Random DIY mixing and More

Had the annual service visit for our furnace planned for this morning. It got cancelled because they were prioritising people whose heating was out. Fair enough. It was 20 degrees outside this morning.

Got ready to catch up with some rebuilding earlier. Started with a fresh wick in a Lemo. Sometimes the rayon doesn't want to cooperate, but this time the first four attempts went wrong. I'm almost finished a bag of rayon. Got a new box ready to go and all that was left in the bag was short pieces and bits I didn't use because they had lumps or twists or the threads were going at an angle. After four failures I threw what was left in the bin and opened the new box. Finally got a new wick installed but I was frustrated by then and put the rest away for another day.

Sorry your wicking didn't go better.

Good morning, hitt. I have a couple late pkgs coming from Amazon also.

I got two of my amazon packages today. One was a new air fryer that we need badly. We use it a lot and the old one is in bad shape. I also got another box of review samples. I suddenly have five reviews to do but at least not all at once. Innokin sends stuff way before release dates so one is released the 12th and one next month. The Sourcemore reviews are no pressure and will get them done when I can.

I’m really glad my wife didn’t want to go to the holiday dinner for work tonight. My boss was nice enough to give me my Xmas bonus before I left since he knew I wasn’t going.

I do use 2-3 drops of fluid sucralose (for baking) in my 50 ml DIY mixes. It brings the flavors more to surface.

Thanks, at the moment I do have Capella sweetener.

I use sweetener in most of my mixes now, either 0.25% or 0.50%.
I rarely go higher unless I'm attempting to replicate a commercial style recipe.

I have no real evidence to offer, but usually use Cap Super Sweet in mixes with fruit because it has citric acid in it which my brain thinks might enhance the fruit flavors a bit.

For most other mixes I use either Purilum Super Sweet or Flavor West Sweetener as I don't think they have the same additives as Capella.
