lol.

I dare you to mention the CD thing to audiophiles. My late brother purchased an amp driven CD player to try and smooth out the distortion in digital music...I don't remember if it even worked out for him. It functioned though. May have been a gimmick, but he didn't think so. So it's me. I can't hear much if any difference. I can hear a difference in LP vs CD, but it's mostly meh to me. Digital is here to stay. Of course, you can compress it too much.

I cringe as much at the term "stinkies," as a do at "tooting."

And CDs? The kids today are missing out by not having every pop and scratch on an album memorized. I have CDs now that catch my attention when there isn't a pop where there is supposed to be.

I started out on my musical appreciation path with LP's and 8-tracks...

Damn, am I really that old???

I had no intention of looking it up but I don't trust wikipedia (it is better than it used to be, but still...). Etymology online

That Origin could be True.

The act of Waffling comes from Not being able to Decide whether to put Whipped Cream or Maple Syrup on it once it is Cooked.

If it gets Cold and you have not decided, you have Officially Waffled.

I notice in the above link it doesn't mention waffle in this context but it does mention it as a verb. I'll just go with yours because it sound fun.

You mean "Analogs" means a Cigarette? I thought this thread was about Analog Music.

Just like Waffles are better than Pancakes, CD's are Much Better than LP's.

Hey now, I had 2 albums that actually sounded great with the clicks and pops of vinyl. Rush - 2113 and Pink Floyd - Ummagumma (the live portion minus "Astronomy Domine" which is BETTER on Piper at the Gates of Dawn regardless of pops and clicks but I do like the Ummagumma heaviness on that song).

Oh, Dark Side of the Moon is killer on 8-track because it just plays over and over while you are sleeping but be careful, you may wake in a state of confusion and disorientation to the screaming just before the music flourish at the beginning.

ETA - I shouldn't watch TV when posting. I took so long to type this that Ocelot already got into the pops. (not you atty)

LOL

You've got that Right.

I had one Bad Scratch on my First Abbey Road album. God Good I played the Heck out of that piece of Vinyl.

To this day, when I hear "Come Together" and it Doesn't Skip at "Grooving Up Slow-Lie", it Doesn't sound right to me

Meddle was another album that was played until it had No Grooves.

LPs? Perhaps old. 8-tracks? (cough) Did you have a Betamax too?

No, but my uncle did. We had a top-load VCR the size of a toaster oven and the remote plugged in to the front of it on a 20' cord. It sat on top of our console television that only got 4 channels (5 if the weather was perfect).

I'm not sure what you are saying here.

Meddle was another album that was played until it had No Grooves.

I got familiar with Meddle on cassette. Something tells me Echoes wouldn't have been good that way but the rest probably would have been especially "Fearless" (one of my favorite Floyd tunes) and during the dogs on "Seamus".

By the time I was getting to know Pink Floyd cassettes had displaced 8-tracks but I had one of those players because vinyls and 8-tracks were dirt cheap at garage sales. Great way to get cool older music. Oh, I also liked things like Iron Maiden on vinyl because the artwork but would tape it to cassette the first time listening for better quality on future listens and preserve the quality.
