I never had any off taste with cotton but for some reason, I always used too much.

With rayon, for me anyway, I tend to get it right pretty much every time I re-wick. Probably because I used more than I needed with cotton (actually thinking it was the proper amount when it was too much) I think this is probably the main reason I like it so much. It is quite forgiving. If you don't have enough, it will collapse. If you have to much, it will choke.

Personally, this is my favorite wicking material although a forum friend (dice) sent me some Ramie in the amil so I'll have to see what that's all about before making my final call. But for now, rayon all the way for me.

Well, I watched this thread, read and debated need vs. desire. Finally felt it was worth the cost and I could scrape by. I picked up the 500ft. Cellucotton at $12w/tax.
Decided to test it in my Magma first. Simple swap and good for testing durability.

So far I am very impressed. Clean taste, excellent capillary action and it seems to be holding up well. I have noticed cotton tends to compress under use in my rda's. So far this has shown no such tendencies.

Now to get time to replace my other 30 or so device wicks.

I wasn't suggesting to rinse it in h.p. just that cotton may be and I couldn't remember what this was final rinsed with.

Sorry Paul,

I read your post a little too quickly and by the time I responded I had forgotten exactly what you said. And I agree with you if they do use peroxide by the time you get it there is noting remaining of the Peroxide. The stuff breaks down from exposure to the air and/or light i.e. the reason it is sold in brown plastic bottles.

I still use it as mouth was but had originally started using it to remove the tobacco stains and help with gum irritation from smoking cigarettes.

PS - sorry for misquoting you.

So I've been using rayon a lot lately, and I have a question that I'm sure was asked already (many times) but searching this thread is tough man, 600+ pages!

Early on people were saying stuff the coil more with rayon than you would vs cotton... now I've seen a shift saying not to stuff it so tight... now that people have been using it for a while, what's the best way?

Stuffed? Or not stuffed?

The rayon wicks amazing, I still get a little different flavor vs KGD... but maybe I haven't found the rayon sweet spot yet with wicking inside the coil?

crxess,

Even with thirty devices you may not have enough time but you sure as He!! are not going to run out of Cellulous. ;)

This is what works for me Phone Guy. YMMV

I take a really thick piece of rayon, perhaps 1/3rd off of the coill coming out of the Sally's box. Actually, I start with about 1/2 and by the time I am finished thinning it down, it is probably about 1/3rd.

Anyway, personally, I stuff it in there. I put in just enough that it is actually kind of hard to get through the coil without defroming it. If it is too much that it just won't pull through, I just trim a tad off and try again. I continue with this process until it is kind of hard to get through but does get through. If it starts pulling through too easily, I start over.

I think a real trick is to get the rayon to "flow" on either side of the coil down to the deck, be it an RTA or an RDA. Kind of hard to put in words but you want to try and get all the strands of rayon flowing in an on-obstructed direction equally.

Well I am glad to read that because that is pretty much what I do..stuff it in right to the point where its almost moving the coil, but not quite.... alternately when I use KGD I make the cotton more loose fitting, just to the point of slight resistance against pulling through the coil.

Sounds like you and I are wicking rayon about the same way then. :D

I have found my happy place with rayon as explained above and it works great for me. Others may have different experiences.

Of course, as in taste of different juices, it's all subjective. Although we are in agreement, our way may not be someone else's way. Experimentation is a wonderful thing. :D

haha I just edited that post.
Whatcha got? Whatcha getting?

I just got a KFL+ V2, a Pulse genny and a Cats RDA this week. The KFL is fiddly as hell (a lot like sleeping on a lumpy mattress - just can't find the right spot), but the genny was great off the bat with rayon, and I think I need an ugly RDA to practice my timing on - it's gonna take me some time to get the hang of dripping. The Cats RDA is kinda my LITTLE PORN STAR. Once I get my camera gear working, it's gonna take some pretty pictures.
Loved my kfl!! I'm back on drippers now but my wife took it over lol

Be interested to hear how your Ramie trial goes.

The Magma was the 1st rda I wicked with cellucotton, and noticed quickly that capillary action of cellucotton was drawing the juice from the deep wells to the coil... I found that with cotton the wick in the wells could be saturated, while the wick at the coil was a bit dry looking.

My most recent test was on GG Tilemahos, and wanted to split the wick tails in half to form a loop around the chamber... the cellucotton fibre structure allowed me to do this easily.

If I think the wife is going to like something, I either buy two so that we each get one, or I buy one and give to her first. If she doesn't like it, I will get it back. If she does like it, I can get another.

Paul, that's why your still married and some of "not so much",

Pretty much the way we do it. She loves tanks and I am a dripper freak!

Here's the best one

Bought 2 black MVPs. Mine dies. Buy her a flowered "petals" one with the intention of getting her black one while waiting for my warranty replacement. Nope, she kept them both thank you very much.

Bought me a VV V3 while waiting. Bought her two after that.

Later on I bought a cheap little mod for work. Left it home some days. Came home one day and couldn't find it. She had it. Bought a Zmax and let her keep the mod. Showed her the Zmax and she didn't like all the menu stuff. Bought her a Coolfire I. Sitting here tonight with both black MVPs and the Zmax.

BTW 42 years last month.
