Rayon wick, better flow, flavor, saturation and Nic Hit!

Currently, I have a handful of spare eGos with clearos, a Tesla vv-vw mod with Phiniac carto-tank, and an Ibaloi hybrid mech...

Tobeco Knight Mod (18650)
Youde Gladiator Mod (26650)
Tobeco Copper Tobh (22mm)
Stainless Tobh Clone (28.5mm)
Tobeco Orchid V2 (22mm I think)
fasttech Perseus genny clone (29.5mm)
A 4-wire milli-ohm meter so that I can get super accurate resistance readings on my crazy sub-ohm builds... I figure if I'm gonna play with cloud chasing, I want to KNOW exactly what my resistance is, and I don't trust those $10-$20 ohm readers... I'm an electronics tech by trade, so I'm fully aware of measurement accuracy....

Plus a bunch of different wire sizes, 200ml of juice from nolavape.com, and a bunch of 18650 and 26650 batteries

I just got a KFL+ V2, a Pulse genny and a Cats RDA this week. The KFL is fiddly as hell (a lot like sleeping on a lumpy mattress - just can't find the right spot), but the genny was great off the bat with rayon, and I think I need an ugly RDA to practice my timing on - it's gonna take me some time to get the hang of dripping. The Cats RDA is kinda my LITTLE PORN STAR. Once I get my camera gear working, it's gonna take some pretty pictures.

I just had to go back and look up the Cats RDA... that's one sexy piece of gear!
I still haven't tried a KF, but I bought the Orchid because I've heard it has more airflow... I just can't handle a hard draw anymore... but I thoroughly expect the Orchid to be every bit as fiddly as the KF!
The Perseus will be my first genny as well... the only reason I got it is because it's gonna match the Gladiator PERFECTLY!!
Can't wait to see your pics of the Cats, and I promise, I'll put up some pics when I get all my stuff together... should have most of it by the 24th or 25th... Don't know about the Perseus (slow boat from China... fasttech my @..!!)

I probably should've gone with the Orchid. The only thing about it though, is you can't undo the chimney to fiddle with the wick. But hey, massive airflow and 4 juice channels! And you know the deal with Perseus, having to slay Medusa and the Kraken and all...

I think the Orchid will be okay if I can manage to wick it with rayon (cause the wicks last so long!) and Tbev pointed me to the Orchid thread, so I should be okay... and the Tobeco V2 has bottom fill... I expect it'll be a juice hog!
LOL... and that's why I'm putting Percy on the Gladiator! In 26650 I should be able to slay ANYTHING!!!
(planning on wicking the genny with rayon too... hate the thought of mesh and cable!)

I just got my orchid v2 clone in the mail. gonna drop it down to 0.4 ohms on a mech and rayon and see how that goes. Haven't opened it up yet, but apparently it has deeper juice channels so that's good. I love using rayon on the dual coil RTAs. Wicking keeps up just fine even when chain vaping at high wattage, which is always a challenge with cotton

Loved my cats rd clone from fasttech. Only got one build on it before the small brass pin that holds the pos+ block stripped out amazing flavor and vapor. And it is a beautiful peice one of the main reasons i got it.

and that doesn't include what came out in pocket lol
I know one of the culprits is the top cap i blew through the Kayfun with my fingers over airholes one juice came out if top cap....
My wicks also might be a little to little ill post pics of it later, at a bday party

I've read through the vast majority of this thread, but I can't remember if anyone has tried dragon wicking with rayon.... does anybody know if that works? I tried nano dragon coils with cotton and never could seem to get them to wick worth a crap, but I'm about to rebuild my coils and just had the thought of maybe trying nano dragons again now that I've made the switch to a far superior wick material.... thoughts?

Ok I am returning for an update on the rayon cloud. Over 3 weeks ago I replaced this cotton cloud with rayon. I fiddled with the cloud the first few days, until getting it just right. Since then I have not touched the coil or the rayon.

Here is what it looks like now, after 23 days of regular every day use.

The cloud has finally begun to darken in color, though it is still pretty white when dry. The coil still looks fairly clean, not much gunkier than two weeks ago. But some small flakes are building up in the cloud. Still hisses an spits like a tomcat in a fight. Not even thinking about rewicking at this time.

Gotta love it.

Did you ever do the bottom fill on v1?It will be alot easier with the v2 though,you can squeeze a full 3ml in doing the bottom fill on the v1,and i am guessing you will probably get close to 3.5ml in the v2.I need to order me a v2,i planned on it last week,but fasttech was calling my name on a few other things first haha.

After 3 bulds and two tanks on my kayfun I get a really sweet taste on my ejuice. It's different than the cotton but I can't decide if it's better or worse!
Do you guys twist the rayon to pass it through the coil? I read somewhere that you shouldn't and I totally do it

A lot of people notice an increase in sweetness I know I do.

As far as wick I take about the amount I think I will need and then roll it between my fingers until it is a fairly good pack and just a little larger than the inside diameter of the coil.

Then I twist/screw it into the coil by twisting in the direction that the coil acts like threads on a nut and draws he wick in. Now this may be CW or CCW depending on the direction you wound the coil.

For me this is the simplest and most straight forward way to do it. There are a lot of people that use some kind o poke and push method with a bent paper clip... way to complicated for me.

With a Kayfun, pressure controlled don't ever cover the air inlet hole.... just sayin'

Hey All,

So I picked up my 500ft. supply from Sally B.S. the other day and thought I would start on my easier rebuilds, my ProTank 2s and my GP Spheroid. Yes I still use my PT2s for on the go.
My PT2s are working well and I would like to get a stable and repeatable build on the Spheroid before I move on to my other RTAs. Here is my first attempt and failure on the PT2 and what I ended up with.
The first three pic.s are what I was doing with cotton and it worked well but not with rayon.

As I said, cutting the wick long and fanning it out in the well worked well with cotton, I am guessing due to the fibers in rayon fanning and going around corners created the inconsistency I was getting. It would vape fine one time then no flavor the next. After playing with density for a while, I went back to the old method.

I trimmed it as if it were silica and it is excellent! Great flavor, clean flavor and the juice is going quick.

I won't post anything on the Spheroid until I can get some consistency, I haven't attempted my KFL or my Russian 91% yet but will keep you all posted!

PS - My builds are a 6/7 wrap, 30 gauge kanthal, 1/16 I.D. and running at 11watts and of course Rayon!

Heck, you're up to date with PT 2s, LOL. I'm vaping an original Protank right now. Wicked with cellulose and the tails trimmed as short as I can get them. With cellulose, shorter seems much better than longer. Expect very long life from it, too, probably four to five times, or more, than a stock head.
