Also the tails are level with the coil so about the only direction the juice can go is toward the drier section inside the coil. :2c:

I thought the Rayon would have a tendency to hold the juice in the thicker more condensed part of the wick, therefore no properly saturating the part in the coil.

I wanted to put Rayon to the test. I removed one tail from each wick. Each coil has only one trimmed Rayon tail now instead of two:

And Mr. Rayon has no issues wicking like that.

The way you have that unit setup I wouldn't expect any problems at all but if you don't think you are getting adequate wicking it should be no trouble to trim them after the fact.

I tend to not trim wicks as much as some. Look at the wicks AMD has posted #10083 they are pretty heavy except at the very bottom. And in AMD's configuration he is pulling up-hill. You know a Truck Driver isn't going to put up with weak clouds. ;)

Dear Rayon experts,

Without being able to thin the tails, would this wicking scenario be unlikely to work well with Rayon?

Hey no poison welcome to rayon town.

Rayon will do all cotton does and more.

That would be No Problem at all. I run kangers straight up... Its when you go longer than that or drop it down to a deck that you really need to thin.

Also if you need more juice flow I see no reason why you couldn't thin it - if needed to open the flow into the chamber more.

AMD is there no end to Russian ingenuity? I think that is a very clever way to do it but how does it work for you?

PS - did you ever call a lawyer about the guy that gave you the ....-Bump?

1. It is working so far at 30 W (1 hour).

2. The Lower didn't like the case because I voluntarily put myself in danger of being run over with that car.

Jeremy,

I missed the fact that that unit has side ports for the juice. I have had bad luck with wick covering the juice ports in any of my atties no matter how much I thin them out. Also in atties that need a little wick in the juice channels to prevent leaking... with rayon I found I only need a few threads in the channel anymore and it works like a cork.
Example: In a KayFun I thin the wicks and then make sure the tails go left and right of the juice ports. For me if I let the tails cover the ports it's like the port just stops supplying juice. I can usually tell by which port stops producing bubbles. Then I open the chimney and use a straight pin to move the wicks away from the ports. Once you get it right they seem to stay put and don't need any further attention.

What if you had done one continuous wick? Would that work too? Nice deck. What is that?

Well one hour at 30 watts is a pretty good test of functionality that's for sure.

You have my kind of luck I would have thought the Lawyers would be beating a path to your door on that one.

AMD, what kind of atty is that? It looks like a Tank as in Battle Tank.

Rogue update

Nice boxing, extra parts, blue screwdriver. Machining looks well done. Didn't smell or look oily. Soak and rinse in vodka anyway.

Top lid is tight on cap. Outer and inner step on cap has o-ring on each making it hard to remove and replace lid for adjusting airflow. Wound a quick 2.6 ohm coil (for a 1.3 later when dual) 10 wraps of 30ga. Need to work on fine tuning but got it to work for a few puffs. This thing is airy. Too airy to me. Attempted to remove lid to adjust, managed to pull cap off and slop juice everywhere. Quit for the night.

It did say drip proof... not much about shaking it with the top off. By the way if it makes you feel any better I did that with my coffee creamer this morning. Grabed it up and shook it with no lid on. Need I say it went everywhere.

Now I am off to buy a Rogue. The only reason I held off was I watched a video and the guy said it wasn't very airy and I like airy.

Two eyebrow slots and he said not airy enough? The slots are larger than the holes on most side flow units. It was like no resistance at all to me. Lots of cloud for a 2.6 at 9w on an MVP. Put some RY4D in and flooded it. Hard to see down in there.

I have that trouble with most drippers but at least you won't be dribbling it out a side port that is so low "Flood" = "Dribble". All you will have to do is go back to counting drops.

When I watched the video and the guy said if you are into airy you might not like this I was wondering what the restriction could possible be. No resistance at all is the way my Lemo is and if it was any more airy you would be able to use it as a snorkel.

PS - the guy did say the cap came off easily as you can affirm. ;)

Can you just trim the wick shorter so it won't be able to block it?

Or cut a v notch into the wick then it would form into the shape you want when you set it and wet it.
