Boy Tony that is the best news I have had in some time. The annealed Ni was starting to really get on my nerves.

Oh - and I am certainly glad to her that "it's still hard during use". Innuendo - life would be so dull without it.

Hahaha.

Well, glad you're happy. I only wonder what will happen after a dry burn :)

Have you seen these charts. It takes a pretty good amount of heat to anneal the Ni200. I personally think I if it goes soft with a dry burn I would just as soon pitch the coil and wick and build new. Anything is easier than then trying to work with the wet string they call Ni200 annealed.

Sometime with 30 Ga soft Ni200 it takes me 3 or 4 attempts to get it right. With the tempered stuff it seems like it is the same as working with Kanthal and I never had any problems with that stuff.

Actually I wonder how long it will take for US vendors to wise up to the fact the annealed Ni it not the way to go.

Most of us got it at Sally Beauty Supply has hair products, salon supplies, spa supplies, cosmetics, and more!. I got mine locally. You've probably got one locally as well.

There are 4 different boxes that I know of.

44130 - 40 feet
44060 - 500 feet
44043 - 3 lb box (900 feet)
44050 - 1200 feet

Just make sure it says 100% rayon on the box as the boxes that contain 100% cotton look identical.

I'm thinking about buying my box this week. 500ft would probably keep me for a while, but the budget-minded voice keeps telling me that for only $3 more, I could get nearly twice as much.

Decisions, decisions....

I think tempered ni is even harder than kanthal. I would like not to exchange the coil every weekly rewick but if I must, I will.

Right now I'm vaping Jugo Diablo on a 6 day old da rayon wick and it still baffles me to the point I'm sweating with a nic overdose lol.

Unless you plan on PIFing about a half box, I would stick with the 500ft roll. Hell, I've got the 500ft roll myself and could PIF half of it and probably still have more than enough to last me the rest of my lifetime.

I spent about 5 hours Monday night rebuilding just about every single RTA I own to install spaced coils. After that marathon, I think I'm finally getting my size/density down with less wasted through trimming.

It really didn't take as long to recoil and install the wicks as I thought it was going to. And 2 were dual coils, but the spaced ones didn't give me as much trouble as micro-coils normally do (firing/lighting evenly). But for some reason, every time I'm installing the wicks, I feel like a beautician :)

Or you may find as I did when I walked in my local Sally's (head held high) and inquired about it, all they had at the time was the tractor trailer sized box. Kinda made my mind up for me. :)

I'm loving the rayon! Rayon is the best wick for Vaping!!!!

Quick question to the experts: has anyone found an easy way to pull enough rayon through a vertical ni200 coil on a dripper such as the Marquis? I've been using the double penetration method but it's a PITA to get it through the bottom of the coil. Any suggestions from you brilliant folks would be very much appreciated!

Just don't dry burn it... At least until I try it. :)

Remember when we torch kanthal wire? Don't know about you guys but whenever I torched mine vertically, the wire would also become softer and bend under its weight however, mounted on the atty I could never notice anything... Maybe dry firing won't be enough to melt it in some odd shape? Don't know, have to try it :)

What's up dnutz!

I don't have much advice for you, the setup is a pain to wick anyway.

Any verticals I've done a lot have been external carto style wraps. Which are easy.. But they only work on bottom air tanks.

The last vertical through coil I did I actually wicked it holding the coil in my fingers, then mounted it. Works out better than you would think. You can still feel the squeak when its close.

Other options, wick it with the coil tilted, then bend it upright but may have hotleg issues doing that...

Feed it from the bottom with a needle as a guide to the main wick and to keep it from getting caught as you pull from the top. (Some twisting may be needed in this case) Once you think its enough then trim it and thin if needed before you stuff it into the well...

Maybe someone that does it regularly can chime in.

When I experimented with vertical coils, wicking did not go inside the coil, but was wrapped around it.

I don't know if this will apply to your situation but I use a piece of 34G Kanthal bent in the middle (think of one of those wire needle threaders) to pull one of the two pieces of wick through the coil when doing a DP wick. I also use the same procedure to add a small amount of rayon to a coil if it's a bit loose.

Install it horizontally... wick it ( I also like using a threader or wire ) and then trim it a bit... and then re-install it vertically.

Yeah, that sucks. I had the same problem with my gennies. Finally just ended up setting them up horizontally and u-wicking them.

No I sure didn't Paul. I think I made some meaningful decision that I am too darn lazy to drip. Albeit my Ex-wife accused me of it all the time.

ha ha

I DIY simple juice and like a dripper for testing. Plus on weekends I like a little of this and that and I only have so many tanks. But its not like I use it all day long. For around ten bucks it was worth it.
