3 pounds!?!

How many feet of the stuff is that? Or is that the $12 box everyone talks about purchasing?

Hi all .. I posted this in the Reo thread but wanted to also post it here:

Out of curiosity I went to Sally's this morning, bought it, been using it all day and must say it is FANTASTIC! I've tried many wicking materials .. ReadyX, bamboo, cotton, yarn, butcher's twine, etc etc .. except never tried hemp or the koh gen do (which I did order but the mailman delivered it somewhere else and then my package was lost, argh). Have it in 2 of my Reo's and they are great, this wicks so very fast and my juice tastes incredible, plus I don't seem to have to swonk as often as before ... sweet :)

Ok, guys it Friday, I'm bored and a little bit of a nerd. So I was thinking, I wonder how long with this 500ft Cellucotton 100% Rayon rope last.

Lets say you cut a 0.5in piece of rope for your wicks, out of that piece you can get...say 2 wicks (that's packing it in a RDA).
So,
500ft at 0.5inches and each 0.5inches makes 2 wicks = 24,000 wicks
Ok, lets say you change wicks on average, every day on one RDA
24,000 wicks / 365.242 days per year (including leap years)
= 65.71 years

hahahaha :)

So you're saying I'm gonna need more? :p

This wick is idiot-proof. Just so damn forgiving. It really opens up all kinds of builds that just weren't possible with other wicking materials. Looking forward to seeing some people think outside the "box", lol.

Funny thing about that pic? That's the actual size of the box 500' comes in. True story.

I think it is going to be around 1000 feet. Reason being, is the box I got from Sally's is 44043, 3lbs worth. The box is 17"x10"x10.5". The box of "reinforced", listed at 500ft, looks to be half the size in height, but same width/depth.
44043
44070 (not the stuff to buy/use, only used as reference to box size)

EDIT: I paid $16.19 after CA tax for mine. Anyone desperate can send me a SASE. I am more than willing to pay it forward. Can probably fit a foot or 2 in a regular envelope. Would only cost you the stamp and envelope.

Ok, next build:
Dual 7-wrap on a 1,5mm (.05inches..1/18 i guess?) drillbit, about .75Ohms.
All on a Nimbus Clone. My center post is kind of crooked, so i decided to go with a center post build...thing (you see the legs come out crooked in the middle).

Bad camera,shaky hands

As you can see i stuffed the thing with Rayon. I go by a less-is-more strategy with cotton, so i would probably use wicks half the size using regular cotton. However, this stuff wicks so well that it doesnt matter. I vaped it dry (which took long, as it literally soaked up every little drop from the deck), then dripped just on the ends. After about 5s it crept up to the coil and i could vape again.
Clouds still seem more or less the same to me.

So in conclusion, at least for the Viscose cotton balls I use, the clouds seem the same. Taste is 100% juice, smiliar to cotton. The two main advantages are a) that i can just stuff the coil, without worrying about using "too much" and the biggest point b) the wicking is far superior. I don't even think any fine SS-mesh i used comes close to this.
No reason to use regular cotton anymore. Thanks again for this whole thread guys, you have greatly increased my vaping experience.

Glad to have greatly increased your vaping experience... I feel this is the single biggest simple change to take a vape beyond what you thought was possible.. This is more original and bigger than micro coils.. I mean really open a carto - there's a 1/16 micro coil in there. Still give props to my micro coil brothers though... But hey guys : I take your KO gen do and raise you a 100 rayon wicks.

Supe hit me up I'll drop you a micro coil of rayon. Now can you really taste your juice???

Ok enough of that but it's a silly Friday..

On to your wicks there.. Looking like a good start.. Remember the epic fail with your first cotton attempt? I do.. I think you need more rayon it's looking pretty thin. You'll have to see how it breaks in. See how one side is thicker than the other? That would be an issue you can improve.

Ok guys you have 200 year supply make that thing much longer than you need. Building from the tip to a nice wick 3 times the size of your coil. 3 times more than you would with cotton!! Continue pulling through till both sides are even thickness. You can twist or stretch to help get through.. Then trim. The tails will look huge in diameter compared to coil.

Now what do you think about the vapor production.

Thanks for posting your pics!

I think rayon likes bigger than 1.6 more. no need to make a microscopic coil really, try bigger next time see what you think.

Just rewicked an IGO-W with the CC. I had tencel in there, but wanted to see how much CC I could fit in the coils. These are dual ribbon 5/6 wraps with a 1/16" ID. I twisted the CC tight and had to give it a good tug to get it to pull through on both coils. Thought for sure I'd overdone it. I was wrong, this stuff is wicking perfectly even though I know the CC is jammed in there. I'm amazed.

Just a warning - I jammed mine in my Fogger coils yesterday. The coils got gunked up last night (they shouldn't have, they were dry burned that morning), and this morning when I tried to pull out the rayon it would only come out taking the coils with it LOL Ok, recoil time! So taste was still great, but having to recoil was a pita!

How is it in the Magma? I have one order.

I am not floored by it, but it's a nice dripper. Very well made clone, machining is superb. Well isn't as deep as I imagined, but holds a good 20-30 drops. Flavor is intense, but even wide open on the AFC ring it's borderline too tight a draw for me. I've been using it a lot, so it's doing something right. Post holes could be bigger, too. All in all I do like it very much. I feel like I'm vaping in stereo with the Magma and CC, getting tons of flavor and noticing notes in my juices I never have before.
