Sitting down, facing forward.
I've found that Tencel is "stiffer" than rayon which makes it a little harder to work with. That is especially true in atomizers where the wick path isn't straight. I use it in Protanks and CE3s which both have straight wick paths. It does wick very well and lasts quite a long time.

Thanks for the info! I went ahead and ordered some too... and some other stuff. I'm going to end up with more Rayon than needed... that's OK though... worst case, one of my pillows get's a bit thicker, or the wife ends up with a lifetime supply of nail-polish removal batten, or some winds up as shipping padding... that's another good thing, it's not like it's expensive and it is useful in everyday situations ;)

Damn, I ordered going off of this post. Is the Tencel no good?

Well really old post, back before anyone even knew about rayon..

Tencel is slightly different and its works a little different that regular rayon coil.(rayon balls, bottle filler, Sally's CCR)

It does work but I prefer the rayon coil myself. Tencel is similar to work I g with ramie but easier. She. The tencel wick is done it looks similar to silica. Doesn't like sharp bends in the tails.

Rnning a thread search for tencel will narrow down the posts related to it.

Also much of the info is copied to my blog. Posts 0-600

Recently started to get into drippers. I got two of those smoktech "squid" mini rdas for taste testing (started messing around with some DIY liquids) and I also got a Mutation X V2. Just for the heck of it I threw some Japanese cotton in one of the mini rdas. Tasted like crap to me and when I removed it it was all brown and burnt in the area around the coil. Put rayon in the second mini (also re-wicked the first one) and the MX and it works like a champ. I did do the cotton wick pretty quick and it's the first time I've even touch cotton in a minute, I was just kind of surprised at how much of a noticeable difference there was for me this time compared to when I first switched to rayon. I was pleasantly surprised that there was little to no break time with the rayon with my RDAs, a fresh rayon wick in my RTAs always tasted slightly off to me at first and needed about a dozen or so hits before it broke in; this was not case with the squids or the MX tasted great right off the bat.

If the "off" taste from the rayon wick isn't a dry hit (when everything else is okay, dry hits are often caused by not enough rayon wick in the coil, causing poor contact), the consensus here seems to be that an off taste is caused by too much rayon wick inside the coil- as in too tight. When the rayon is at the right density inside the coil, the taste is good right from the start.

One other thing with your RTAs is to run the tails thinner than you would with cotton. Thick tails tends to pull caramelized juice out of the coil between inhales, this causes the wicks to darken considerably- to the point that the juice will also darken. So if you see this happening you'll know you can go with thinner tails.

When I say off I don't mean that it's necessarily bad and/or burnt tasting, it just takes a few drags before I hit that "sweet spot" (for me at least). You're totally right about the thin tails in a RTA, I also noticed some darkening in my juice if the ends are too thick, works like a charm if thinned out.
Needless to say, whether it's a tank or a dripper, rayon is awesome :toast:

The Rayon shouldn't have any chemicals left on it...

many comparisons with KGD, many people wind up sticking with Rayon...

There is even organic Rayon! It's not an artificial fiber... it's cellulose, just like the 90% cellulose you were using from your cotton... it's just been chemically isolated... exactly like your nicotine was.

Got the Tencel in today. Just got done building the k4 with 30g nickel and pulled some tencel through. Gave it a big hair cut (this stuff is quite soft and hair like) like you said Jeremy it doesn't like to bend. But we do indeed have loft off! Wicks great and tastes amazing! Imma just have to get some of the normal rayon from sally's too for comparison. This stuff is a bit stiff. First time user so it's very weird to use compared to cotton, but I got it on the first try with all the reading I did here. I'm sold!

Yeah, from what I have read... it's not your normal Rayon experience... the stuff I ordered is ORGANIC... yeah, ORGANIC RAYON... can't wait for it to land.

I know what you mean... but now that I see it listed as such... I'm adding it all over the place, lol... doesn't it make all the world of difference?!

I can't find the link talking about organic, but I did bookmark this one...
